CCU looks to keep momentum rolling into their second Sun Belt Conference contest of 2022. The Coastal Carolina Chanticleers (4-0, 1-0 SBC) host the Georgia Southern Eagles (3-1, 0-0) as part of celebrating Family Weekend at Brooks Stadium on Saturday. The offense is riding high after another 500+ yard performance in a 41-24 road victory over SBC foe Georgia State. Steelers’ star safety Minkah Fitzpatrick could miss Sunday’s game against the Jets after being placed in concussion protocol. This would be a huge blow to a defense already missing its top defender in T.J. Watt. Head coach Mike Tomlin announced Minkah will have to go through the league’s five-step protocol in order to suit up on Sunday. The Coastal Carolina Chanticleers breezed to a 41-24 Sun Belt Conference opening victory against Georgia State on Thursday. CCU controlled the game from the start moving to 4-0 on the season and 1-0 in league action. Quarterback Grayson McCall led the Chanticleers offense to 540 total yards on the road. Coastal ran for 272 yards on the ground while adding another 268 yards in the air. McCall would finish the game 19-for-27 for 268 yards and two touchdown passes. CCU moved to 3-0 after Saturday’s 38-26 victory over the Buffalo Bulls at Brooks Stadium. This marks the third straight season starting 3-0 and the fifth time in program history. The Chants have also won 13-straight non-conference regular season games. Despite the two teams combining for eight turnovers, the offenses put up over 840 total yards. The Pittsburgh Steelers won an absolute thriller against the Cincinatti Bengals on Sunday. But they only got to that result in large part due to one of their members of the secondary.  Minkah Fitzpatrick has been named AFC Defensive Player of the Week. Fitzpatrick set the tone early recording a pick-six off a Joe Burrow pass on the Bengals first drive of the game.
