The Dallas Cowboys, after a draft day trade on Thursday, selected former Oklahoma Sooners offensive tackle Tyler Guyton with the 29th overall pick of the 2024 NFL draft. Dallas, which had yet to do much in free agency to add talent to a team that has won 36 regular-season games over the past three seasons, acquired a top 75 pick to move down five spots in the first round of this year’s NFL draft.
Despite the strategic move that postponed their first-round selection, Cowboys linebacker Micah Parsons was already turning heads for comments about a rival’s first-round pick. During an appearance on Bleacher Report’s live draft show, Parsons shared his thoughts on the Philadelphia Eagles first-round selection, former Toledo corner Quinyon Mitchell.
Dallas Cowboys LB Micah Parsons: Talks Philadelphia Eagles Draft Selection
The outspoken Micah Parsons joined Bleacher Report’s live draft show on Thursday. Parsons kept his emotions in check until the Philadelphia Eagles, the longtime rival of the Cowboys, burned their first-round pick on cornerback Quinyon Mitchell. The top-ranked corner, according to NFL Draft Buzz, Mitchell fell to the Eagles with the 22nd overall selection despite his meteoric rise up draft boards. Parsons gave a glowing review regarding Philadelphia’s selection of Mitchell, but that didn’t mean he was happy that he went to a division rival.

“I mean, I’m utterly disgusted on how lucky the Eagles are. He fell right into their lap. He checks every box. … I think this is a terrific pick. I don’t know how Howie and them get so lucky,” said Parsons during an appearance on Bleacher Report’s live draft show.
A two-time first-team All-MAC honoree with the Toledo Rockets, Mitchell tallied an FBS-best 25 passes defended in 2022, his second with the program. He also tallied five interceptions and 3.5 TFLs. Mitchell had another 41-tackle campaign in 2023 and will now look to become a centerpiece of an already-loaded Eagles defense.
Dallas Cowboys: Go Offensive Line in First Round
The Dallas Cowboys selected former Oklahoma football offensive tackle Tyler Guyton with the 29th overall pick of the 2024 NFL draft. According to NFL Draft Buzz, Guyton entered Thursday as the eighth-ranked offensive tackle. At six feet eight inches and 322 pounds, Guyton is the ideal size for a bookend tackle in the NFL. Scouting websites praise Guyton for his explosiveness off the ball and ability to operate as a puller in a gap scheme offense.
Guyton could slot in on the left side of the offensive line opposite right tackle Terence Steele. Dallas also signed tackle Chuma Edoga this offseason as a potential option on the end of the offensive line.
