Top 4 College Football Picks – Week 4 (9/22-9/24)
Thursday, 09/22/22
Coastal Carolina -2 vs Georgia State 7:30pm
Give me the Chanticleers!!!! Opening up Sun Belt Conference play on the road at 3-0. I look for veteran quarterback Grayson McCall to keep his composure and rally CCU for the road win. Georgia State (0-3) will keep this game close. They’ve played some solid competition vs South Carolina, UNC and a 1-point loss to Charlotte. The road team is 4-0-1 vs the spread in their last five contests. Coastal wins on the road by a touchdown.

Clemson -7 vs Wake Forest 12:00pm
The Tigers and Deamon Deacons meet up in the ACC opener for both clubs. Both are a perfect 3-0 on the early season. Either offense can put up points in bunches, but I’ll side with the Tigers on the defensive side of the ball. Dabo has covered three of the last four in this series and Clemson has covered their last four away game against the Demon Deacons. Clemson wins 34-24.
Saturday, 09/24/22
UNC -2 vs Notre Dame 3:30pm
The tale of two offenses. UNC is averaging over 500 yards a game and Notre Dame’s offense looks like it’s stuck in molasses. I’m looking for UNC quarterback Drake Maye to have a good game at home against an underwhelming Notre Dame squad. Maye has thrown for over 900 yards with 11 touchdown passes to only one interception through three games. It could only take 30 points for UNC to get the home W.

Minnesota -2.5 vs Michigan State 3:30pm
A pair of old Big Ten rivals meet up in the conference opener on Saturday. The Spartans return home after an ugly loss to Washington and dropping out of the top 25. Minnesota sits at a perfect 3-0 while outscoring competition 149-17. This might be head coach P.J. Fleck’s best team since Minnesota went 11-2 in 2019. I’ll be backing the Golden Gophers on the road to win by a field goal.
Top 4 NFL Picks – Week 3 (9/22-9/26)
Thursday, 09/22/22
Pittsburgh Steelers +4.5 vs Cleveland Browns 8:15pm
I know, I know. Trubisky and the offense are non-existent. Matt Canada needs to be run out of town. But give the Steelers 4.5 points in a division game where the Steelers historically play tight divisional contests……I’ll take the points all day!!!
Sunday, 09/25/22
Cincinnati Bengals -5 vs New York Jets 1:00pm
I don’t think the Bengals ever envisioned an 0-2 start after going to the Super Bowl last season. Burrow, Chase and Mixon are on the cusp of an offensive explosion, and I think this is the game it happens. The Jets are riding high after a miraculous win over the Browns. But they still gave up 30 points to an offense led by Jacoby Brissett. I can’t see Joe Flacco keeping this momentum and Joe Burrow is trying to avoid an 0-3 start. Give me the Bengals to cover -5 and even if it balloons upwards of -6 or -7.

Tampa Bay Bucs -1.5 vs Green Bay Packers 4:25pm
Brady vs Rodgers. Hall of Famer vs Hall of Famer. The Packers offense looked horrible on the road in Week 1 against the Vikings, and I think that trend continues on the road vs a very good Bucs defense. Rodgers got Aaron Jones involved more in a win last week against a mediocre Bears squad, but the Bucs defense will clamp down. Even with Mike Evans suspended and banged up receivers, Brady will lean more on Fournette and find a way to win. Bucs win by a field goal at home.
Monday, 09/26/22
New York Giants -1 vs Dallas Cowboys 8:15pm
Through two games Saquan Barkley has looked like his old self and I think he’s the difference maker in this matchup. The Cowboys without Dak Prescott favor the Giants defense. Both teams have played some close games and I think this will be a one score game with the Giants coming out on top for a divisional home victory.
Matt Zitt’s picks on the year: 0-0
