Penn State moved up in the AP Top 25 Poll after a 46-10 route of Ohio University at Beaver Stadium on Saturday. The Nittany Lions now sit at No. 22 in the poll after starting the 2022 campaign unranked. Freshman running back Nick Singleton led the way for Penn State carrying the ball 10 times for 179 yards and two touchdowns. The performance was much needed as the running game stalled in the opening week vs. Purdue. This marks the first 100-yard rusher for Penn State since late in the 2020 season. “Once he got that edge, nobody was catching…

Mike Tomlin and the Pittsburgh Steelers officially named Mitchell Trubisky as the team’s starting quarterback for 2022. It was always his job to lose after the Steelers signed him for $14.285 million over two years, including a $5.25 million signing bonus. With all three quarterbacks playing well during the preseason, Trubisky did enough to solidify himself as the starter. The Steelers listed Mason Rudolph as his backup with Kenny Pickett as the third string quarterback. Pretty surprising considering how well Pickett performed in his three preseason games and training camp. After months of speculation head coach Mike Tomlin would…

Like father, like son. Penn State’s Joey Porter Jr. displayed his shutdown potential as a cornerback Thursday night against Purdue. In an epic 35-31 victory over the Boilermakers, Porter Jr. forced six incompletions and recovered a fumble. He also led the defense with eight tackles. His six break ups tied for the most in a game by a Power Five cornerback since PFF began charting College Football in 2014.  Perhaps what was most impressive was Porter’s ability to bounce back and not be fazed by adversity. Seven minutes into the Big Ten opener Porter Jr. jumped an underneath route and…

If Steelers fans were concerned about a possible ‘hold-in’ from the teams top pass catcher, they have an answer. Diontae Johnson sat out of the team portion of drills on Day 1 of camp. He could be seen catching passes from a staffer on the sideline. “I want to be here long-term. But that’s up to them.” Johnson said, via Brian Batko of the Pittsburgh Post Gazette. “I’m just going to keep doing what I’m doing.” Johnson led the Steelers in receptions, receiving yards and touchdowns in 2021. His absence is not ideal with a quarterback battle between Mitch Trubisky,…
