The Jim Irsay Collection is coming to Lucas Oil Stadium for the first time, on September 9th. The Colts owner has one of the most coveted collections in the world. It was called “One of the most comprehensive overviews of American culture in the world.” This statement came from Mike Mills, bassist and founding member of REM. This collection contains important pieces of sports, music, and American pop culture memorabilia and history.

For the first time ever, the @IrsayCollection is coming to Indianapolis!

A chance to see @JimIrsay's band, @AnnWilson of Heart and a special guest September 9th:

“Irsay, amassed the collection over about 25 years. It features instruments of rock n’ roll legends, American literature manuscripts, and the first national Thanksgiving declaration in 1777.” said Alicia Powell in her article about the collection. The Jim Irsay Collection has something interesting for many different kinds of fans.

The viewing event for the collection is free to the public. Although it has a limited number of tickets, similar to the Colts training camp practices. “I want no money,” said Irsay, “This is my effort to make the world a better place… It’s to allow people to see it and share these things.”

“I have JFK, his rocking chair, Jackie Robinson’s bat that he hit a homerun World Series with, Muhammad Ali’s shoes from the ‘Thrilla in Manila’ against Joe Frazier,” Irsay said. “It’s so eclectic because it’s everything.” When he says “everything” he means it. Irsay’s most prized item is the original typewritten scroll for Jack Kerouac’s “On the Road,” which he bought in 2001 for $2.43 million.

The event will also feature Irsay’s band and Ann Wilson of Heart. This event promises to be fun for many different age groups. It offers some incredible pieces that can attract people of different interests.
