The Cincinnati Bengals have had major struggles at defensive tackle over the past few seasons including the loss of elite nose tackle D.J. Reader.  Reader was an outstanding player who left the organization during the free agency window and left the team without a legitimate option after the team was terrible against the run last season.  The organization was in desperate need of a solid player on the interior and was almost guaranteed to grab one during the 2024 NFL Draft. The Las Vegas Raiders struggled with a dysfunctional offense last season.  Part of that issue has been that the offensive line was dismantled just a few years ago and simply hasn’t been able to recover.  For this offense to finally bounce back and make an impact in a competitive AFC West, they are going to need to repair their offensive front.  While it is always tough to draft offensive lineman, this is a terrific draft with a remarkably deep crop. After their dramatic improvement last season, the Houston Texans have proven themselves as a dominant force in the NFL.  While the offense looks like it is going to be a force of nature next season under elite quarterback C.J. Stroud, the defense looks like it has some problems including the secondary.  Houston certainly had the motivation to attack the secondary at some point in the 2024 NFL Draft. A few years ago, the Dallas Cowboys had handily the best offensive line in the entire NFL.  Unfortunately for this organization, age affects offensive linemen harshly and this unit is seeing a dramatic dropoff.  This offseason, the end of the elite offensive line might have hit an official low when future hall of fame Tyron Smith left the franchise for the New York Jets.  At some point, this team needed to fight back against the decay that time was inflicting on this unit. Since the Jacksonville Jaguars drafted superstar quarterback Trevor Lawrence with the first overall pick of the 2021 NFL Draft, this team has failed to bring in a talented wide receiver who is worthy to be his target man.  Obviously, Christian Kirk is an excellent slot receiver but Lawrence needs a player who can make his life easier in the red zone.  It seems like it is finally time for this franchise to address its biggest problem. Around ten years ago, the Pittsburgh Steelers were renowned for consistently having one of the toughest and most talented offensive lines in the entire league.  After a mass exodus of linemen a few years ago, this unit has unfortunately taken a substantial dive in quality and now, this offense that was once known for running the ball down your throat simply can’t get first downs on the ground.  For an organization that is loaded with pride in both the front office and the fan base, something simply had to change. Under head coach Mike Vrabel, the Tennessee Titans were renowned as one of the most physical offenses in the NFL.  Obviously, things are going to change a little bit after the team lost superstar running back Derrick Henry to the Baltimore Ravens but this is a team that desperately needs an extra push.  While everyone expects former Cincinnati offensive coordinator Brian Callahan to focus on wide receiver, it is possible that he wants to stick with the current mentality of this roster. The Cincinnati Bengals were thrown into a tailspin today after two of their superstars requested a trade.  While the unease of wide receiver Tee Higgins has been public knowledge over the past few months, the developing situation with Pro Bowl defensive end Trey Hendrickson seemed to come out of left field for the organization this evening.  Both players claim that their demands are completely related to the front office failing to attempt contract extensions with either player over the past few months. After finishing 2022 as one of the better defenses in the NFL, the Cincinnati Bengals took a massive step back last season.  In 2022, Cincinnati possessed the sixth-best scoring defense in the NFL as the unit capitalized on turnovers and shut teams down in key situations but last season, the group dropped to 21st in the NFL.  Regardless of whether you believe Bengals defensive coordinator Lou Anarumo is an elite coach or not, that is an indefensible turn of events in one season. The Cincinnati Bengals have landed themselves in a unique position this offseason by filling their biggest needs with bargain free agents including former Baltimore Ravens free safety Geno Stone and former New England Patriots offensive tackle Trent Brown.  Typically, when a team lands in a position like that, they can get really creative during the draft because their entire goal becomes maximizing talent rather than filling any potential gaps.
