The New England Patriots have reportedly zeroed in on who they will be taking with their No. 3 overall pick in the 2024 NFL Draft. As the draft is just hours away, two prominent members in the media that have close ties to the Patriots organization have both revealed that the team is locked in on one player for their first pick.
While there were rumors that the team may be interested in trading the pick, it does not appear that they have gotten any legitimate trade offers. This means they will likely stay put at No. 3 and get the guy that everyone is reporting they want.
The New England Patriots Are On The Clock
The first to picks of the 2024 NFL Draft seem to be set in stone with Caleb Williams and Jayden Daniels going 1 and 2 respectively. Now the New England Patriots are on the clock.
According to multiple insiders the team knows who they are going to take at their pick following the two quarterbacks going off the board. Tom Curran is the third insider to come out and say that the team is expected to take UNC quarterback Drake Maye with their No. 3 overall pick.
Barring Jayden Daniels not going at No.2 overall it is almopst set in stone now that the Patriots will put the franchise in Maye’s hands for the future. Curran did add however, that the team has a chance to be compelled to move down in the draft but only if they get an offer they can’t refuse from the Minnesota Vikings or New York Giants.
“Expect the Patriots to take Drake Maye at number three tonight unless someone – Vikings or Giants – makes them an offer they just can’t refuse,” Curran wrote.
Curran is not the only one to say this, as Adam Schefter and Albert Breer have both reported the same.
Multiple Analysts Think Drake Maye To New England Patriots Is Done Deal
Tom Curran is just one of many saying that that Maye to New England is basically a done deal. NFL insider Adam Schefter was quoted saying:
“I think the Commanders are likely to stay at two and pick their quarterback. I think the Patriots are a little less likely than the Commanders to stay at three but still more likely than not to make that pick at three. It’s up to a team this week to change the Patriots’ mind, which could happen.”

Albert Breer also shared a similar notion saying:
“I now feel pretty good that he’s going to be a New England Patriot,” Breer said of Maye.
Maye himself hinted that he knows which team is going to take him and he was quoted saying about the Patriots:
“Such a historic program and team and history up there in New England,” Maye said after meeting with the Patriots last month. “So just getting the chance to know them, get to know what they’re about and their champion mindset of getting back to the glory days has been cool,”
Maye will have a huge hole to fill with New England now that they traded their first round quarterback Mac Jones. It is highly possible that if the team does take Maye, he will sit to start his career behind Jacoby Brissett and allow the team to put more around Maye for him to succeed.
Maye is just 21 years old so it would make sense for him to sit his first season and learn under Jacoby, who he himself learned under Tom Brady. Tune in to the 2024 NFL Draft tonight to see who the future of the Patriots organization is.
