Here are my top 10 fantasy football running back rankings heading into the 2024 season. The NFL draft is only two weeks away which means that fantasy drafts are right around the corner. Here is who you should be targeting for your fantasy teams for next season.
Top 10 Fantasy Running Backs for 2024
1. Christian McCaffery – San Fransico 49ers
Christian McCaffery is by far the best running back in football right now. Questions over the last couple of years arose of when he would fall off or if he could stay healthy, which were all answered over the past two seasons. McCaffery had over 1,400 yards and 14 touchdowns in 2023 and looks to do the same in 2024.
2. Breece Hall – New York Jets
Breece Hall had an impressive start to his rookie season in 2022 before unfortunately tearing his ACL. Heading into 2023 Hall’s status was unknown because of the injury and competition for touches with Dalvin Cook. Hall showed that neither of those things mattered and was the Jet’s best offensive weapon last season and hopes to solidify himself as a top NFL running back in 2024.
3. Bijan Robinson – Atlanta Falcons
After being drafted eighth overall in the 2023 NFL Draft, Robinson got off to a slow start in Atlanta. When Bijan got touches he was one of the best running backs in the NFL. With the addition of Kirk Cousins, Robinson should be a massive piece of the Flacons offense in 2024.
4. Johnathan Taylor – Indianapolis Colts
Taylor had a tough season in 2023. A contract holdout along with injuries kept him sidelined for much of the 2023 season. Taylor got a new contract this offseason and hopes to get back to being one of the best running backs in the NFL in 2024.
5. Jahmyr Gibbs – Detroit Lions
Also selected in the first round of last year’s draft, Gibbs was one of the fastest players in the NFL last season. After an impressive rookie season, Gibbs could easily be top three on this list. The reason he is here at number five is because he has to split carries with running back David Montgomery.
6. Saquon Barkley -Philadelphia Eagles
Saquon Barkley is starting a new chapter in his career in 2024. After not being able to reach an extension with the Giants, Saquon signed a massive deal with the Eagles. With a great offensive line, Saquon should be primed to have a massive season in 2024.
7. Kyren Williams – Los Angeles Rams
Kyren Williams was the breakout running back of last season. After being scheduled as the RB2 on the depth chart Williams showed out and won the starting role. In 12 games Kyren had over 1,100 yards and 12 touchdowns. He looks to stay healthy and consistent in 2024.
8. James Cook – Buffalo Bills
James Cook had a very underrated season in 2023. Cook rushed for over 1,100 yards in Buffalo’s explosive offense. The reason Cook did not have more hype is because he only rushed for two touchdowns. With the departure of receivers, Buffalo will rely on Cook to have another strong season in 2024.
9. Derrick Henry – Baltimore Ravens
Similar to Saquon Barkley, Henry is also starting a new chapter of his career. Henry has been one of the best running backs over the past five years but seemed to have slowed down last season. Moving into Baltimore’s run-heavy offense should benefit both Henry and the Ravens in 2024.
10. Travis Etienne – Jacksonville Jaguars
Etienne has been very consistent for the Jaguars over the past two seasons. After rushing for over 1,100 yards in back-to-back seasons the Jaguars and Etienne are hoping to take the next step in 2024.
