The Kansas City Chiefs made waves late in the first round of the 2024 NFL draft, trading up with the Buffalo Bills of all teams to select former Texas football standout and wideout Xavier Worthy. Buffalo, who have long struggled to surpass Kansas City in the postseason, sold the rights to the 28th overall pick to the AFC West club to move down in the draft. In turn, the Chiefs selected one of the fastest wide receiver prospects of all time, Texas Longhorns product Xavier Worthy.
Naturally, NFL fans were beyond surprised by the Bills letting the Chiefs move up in the draft to select a budding star at receiver to play with two-time MVP quarterback Patrick Mahomes. Kansas City entered the offseason with question marks on offense, but the addition of Worthy could become an immediate solution.
NFL Fans: Shocked by Kansas City Chiefs Adding Xavier Worthy
The Kansas City Chiefs, the winners of last season’s Super Bowl, owned the 32nd overall pick in the 2024 NFL draft. However, in a stunning move of events, Kansas City orchestrated a move with an AFC foe, the Buffalo Bills, moving up to the 28th selection to add another weapon to their already high-powered offense.
Worthy, who ran a record 4.21 40-yard dash at the 2024 NFL Scouting Combine, posted a monster season for the Texas football program last year. He caught 75 passes for 1,1014 yards and five scores. Worthy finished his three-year college career with 2,755 yards and 26 receiving touchdowns. With the rich getting richer, NFL fans quickly took to Twitter (also known as X) to share their frustration with the Bills, allowing the Chiefs to get another weapon for superstar quarterback Patrick Mahomes.

Buffalo Bills do it again, allowing the Kansas City Chiefs to get Xavier Worthy is a hell of an incredibly wild to me.
Xavier Worthy ran a 4.21 40 yard dash.
Fastest 40 yard dash in two decades.
20 years old.
41” vertical.
I’d be furious as a bills fan. This WR room is not… pic.twitter.com/mX6218ZTyX

I'm honestly surprised Xavier Worthy fell to a range the Chiefs would be able to select him.
This is a terrific pick at pick 28, and the fact the Bills gave the Chiefs the chance to move up for him could wind up hilarious.

Kansas City Chiefs: Updated WR Depth Chart
The Kansas City Chiefs will have a new-look receiving core after winning last season’s Super Bowl. The team signed former first-round pick and five-year NFL veteran Marquise “Hollywood” Brown this offseason. Brown is fresh off a down year but recorded 1,717 receiving yards from 2021 to 2022. The Chiefs also burned a first-round pick on Texas Longhorns product Xavier Worthy to use him in Andy Reid’s offense.
Meanwhile, last year’s top receiver Rashee Rice remains entrenched in a legal battle from a multi-car accident resulting from his speeding. The reigning Super Bowl champs also have Skyy Moore, Justin Watson, and Kadarious Toney on the roster, but they all played reserve roles last season.
