Hawaii football experienced a disappointing 2022 campaign, finishing 3-10.  However, two Hawaii football players recently signed with NFL teams according to KHON2 Digital Reporter Christian Shimabuku. Offensive Lineman Ilm Manning and Wide Receiver Zion Bowens went undrafted this spring. Manning signed with the San Francisco 49ers. Manning’s draft stock fell because of his size. Manning is listed at 6’4 and is considered too small to play tackle. Manning will most likely play guard with the 49ers. Manning played over 60 games for the Rainbow Warriors. Former NFL Wide Receiver Henry Rugg’s case continues. According to Rugg’s attorneys, Ruggs will plead guilty to his 2021 car crash that killed a woman and her dog. Rugg’s case will be tried as a felony. Ruggs will plead guilty to a DUI and misdemeanor manslaughter. Ruggs faces three to ten years in prison according to NBC affiliate KSNV of Las Vegas. Ruggs was released by the Las Vegas after the car accident. Ruggs was driving 165 miles per hour and struck 23-year-old Tina Tintor’s car. Ruggs was driving a Corvette. According to Sports Analyst Peter Schrager, some NFL General Managers are annoyed by the praise Eagles General Manager Howie Roseman received for the Eagle’s draft. NFL General Managers believe Roseman is receiving too much credit. The news is significant because of how the Eagles organization is perceived. The Baltimore Ravens decided to not pick up Linebacker Patrick Queen’s fifth-year option according to a source. NFL Network Reporter Ian Rapoport confirmed the news Monday. Queen was set to make $12.72 million in 2024. Queen will now play out the rookie contract he signed in 2020. Queen is set to make $2,268,410 in 2023 according to SpotRac. Former Notre Dame Quarterback Tyler Buchner is joining the Alabama Crimson Tide. Eighteen football players have left Colorado football since the 2023 spring game according to the NCAA transfer portal. Former NFL Defensive End Chris Smith passed away at 31 years old, according to Agent Drew Rosenhaus. Rosenhaus shared the news Tuesday. Smith’s cause of death wasn’t announced. Smith was a member of the Seattle Sea Dragons in the XFL. Smith played in the NFL for eight seasons. Smith played for Jacksonville Jaguars, Cincinnati Bengals, Las Vegas Raiders and Houston Texans.
