Former Notre Dame Quarterback Tyler Buchner is joining the Alabama Crimson Tide. Buchner announced his decision to transfer on Twitter Thursday.

Buchner’s announcement adds to the movement provided by the NCAA transfer portal. The portal officially closes on April 30.
Buchner spent two seasons with the Notre Dame Fighting Irish. Buchner took over after Jack Coan left for the NFL.
Buchner recorded 949 passing yards, threw six touchdowns and eight interceptions at Notre Dame.
Buchner suffered a Grade 5 Shoulder Sprain against Marshall. Buchner injured his non-throwing shoulder. Buchner missed the 2022 season and had to rehabilitate his shoulder.
Buchner joins a crowded quarterback room in Alabama. Buchner will compete with Ty Simpson, Jalen Milroe and Dylan Lonergan for the starting job. Alabama needs a quarterback who can fill Bryce Young’s shoes.
Buchner was a four-star athlete according to 247Sports. Buchner was also the 11th-ranked quarterback in his signing class. Buchner committed to Notre Dame on March 8, 2019.
Buchner has an opportunity to play for a top program in the country. Buchner also has a chance to improve his brand and grow as a football player.
