Jonathan Taylor had a tremendous 2021 campaign as he finished as the best running back in fantasy football by nearly 40 points. He ran away with the top spot at the position and looked to repeat that feat the following season. However, plans change. Taylor missed six games throughout the season due to a variety of injuries, but the running back was in a box for most of the season before missing the final three games. Taylor had a serviceable average of 78 rushing yards per game, but he looked off with Matt Ryan at quarterback. Now he and the Indianapolis Colts have…

Kyle Pitts dealt with injury in the 2022 season, resulting in a down year compared to his rock star rookie campaign. There are reasons beyond the injuries that Pitts struggled to put up consistent numbers in his 10 starts last season, but his missing the final six games of the season certainly did not help matters. However, there was a key factor for why he could be able to bounce back in 2023 that was beyond his control last year. Kyle Pitts will return in 2023 The first talking point is perhaps the most obvious. If you are unable to play,…

Diontae Johnson finished as a top-24 wide receiver in the realm of fantasy football in 2020 and 2021. However, there was always going to be a struggle once Ben Roethlisberger retired. The good thing for Johnson is that his 2022 “struggle” was a finish as the 28th-best receiver in fantasy PPR scoring. In this series, a discussion of players who had a disappointing season in their last campaign will take place. And, as the title suggests, talk about why these players might be in for bounce back years heading into 2023. Diontae Johnson with Big Ben Roethlisberger was a phenomenal quarterback, especially…

Geno Smith turned heads for the Seattle Seahawks in 2022. People wrote off Smith, however, the quarterback never wrote them back en route to winning Comeback Player of the Year in the NFL and cashing in on a new contract. The Seahawks signal caller had a renaissance and played football in a way the viewing public has never seen him play before. “Seattle is going to tank this year with terrible quarterback play, and end up with a top-5 pick in the draft,” was a sentiment held by many heading into last season. Geno Smith had a wonderful run No one…

Miles Sanders is not a running back to overlook in free agency this offseason. Yes, this is another free agent running back episode. However, this one has a wrinkle added in that freshens it up compared to the previous episodes. Sanders had a remarkably great campaign. He had career-highs in most rushing categories en route to finishing as the 10th-best running back in fantasy football.  With such a great season, Sanders likely draws a high-end running back contract wherever he ends up. Last season, the running back proved he is worthy of every dime he earns. However, something is fishy about…

The Arizona Cardinals signed wide receiver Greg Dortch to his exclusive rights tender, making him a member of the team coming into the 2023 season, the receiver announced via social media. https://twitter.com/_GDortch/status/1634258071240470528 Dortch, 24, had the best season of his young career in 2022. He had a career-high in yards, targets, receptions and touchdowns. Not only did Dortch have a career year, but he also had an amazing year for the Cardinals as a whole. The wide receiver ranked third on the team in receptions and fourth in targets and receiving yards. The Cardinals re-signing Dortch makes it so the…

Brandon Aiyuk improved greatly in 2022 compared to his previous campaign. However, there is reason to doubt his success continues into next season. Aiyuk finished as the 15th-best wide receiver in fantasy football last year. Clearly, that is incredible and that finish cannot be taken away from him. Although, there were circumstances that led to his success that was out of the receiver’s control. The chief of them was the amalgamation of injuries sustained by the 49ers last season. Injuries to playmakers benefitted Brandon Aiyuk In 2022, the 49ers dealt with injuries to the running back room, wide receiver room…

Last season, Cole Kmet shocked a lot of people in the football world as he finished as the eighth-best tight end in fantasy football. People had low expectations for the third-year tight end. However, by finishing as well as he did in 2022, he far exceeded any expectations people had for him entering the year. That said, after looking back on the year he had, there seems to be a catalyst for why he broke out in such a big way last season. Cole Kmet benefitted from Darnell Mooney’s injury The injury to Darnell Mooney put a damper on the…

Today we head back to the realm of the running back who enters free agency to discuss Jamaal Williams. Do you notice a trend yet for running backs? Half of the running backs discussed for regression are on this series because they could lose a prominent role in the offense. Hello, Devin Singletary and Tony Pollard. While Williams is a free agent, it is hard to imagine the role of a bruising running back being filled by anyone else if he leaves the Detroit Lions. However, in the same vein as Singletary, it is difficult to see Williams’ usage increase…

Michael Pittman Jr. played as best as he could last season given the circumstances he contended with. He, as well as the entire Indianapolis Colts franchise, dealt with a revolving door at the quarterback position and incompetent coaching for a chunk of the season. Through all of this, Pittman managed to finish as the 20th-best wide receiver in the realm of fantasy football. It is clear to see Pittman is talented and can put up numbers under almost any situation. The key word there is “almost.” There is one more test for the young wide receiver to pass before switching…
