Per multiple sources, the Houston Cougars are moving on from head coach Dana Holgorsen after five seasons with him at the helm. This comes after a 27-13 loss at UCF capped a three-game losing streak to end the 2023 season. It was Houston’s first season in the Big 12, and they finished 2-7 in conference play, which cost them a bowl game. Holgorsen took over for the Cougars in 2019, going 4-8 in his initial season. Then, Houston played in a bowl game the next three seasons and earned a trip to the American Athletic Conference Football Championship Game in…

The New York Giants will be without one of their best players, as Dexter Lawrence has been ruled out for Sunday’s battle against the New England Patriots. He sustained a hamstring injury during New York’s Week 11 win against Washington. The unfortunate ailment came on the game-clinching pick-six. This will only be the second time that Lawrence is inactive because of an injury. https://twitter.com/Patriots/status/1728814354798448685 Drafted 17th overall in the 2019 NFL Draft, Dexter Lawrence is one of the NFL’s premier defenders. He was an All-Pro last season and received a $90 million extension during the offseason. Earlier this week, Pro…

Even though this is something that’s never happened before, the Iowa Hawkeyes seem to be in familiar territory. For the third time in November, the Hawkeyes are going to play in a game with a record-low betting total. Several sportsbooks have Iowa’s Week 13 matchup against Nebraska set at a 24.5-point total. The FBS era has never reached this level before. So last year, Iowa set the record at 31.5 twice toward the end of the season. This year, they’ve already set it three times. When Friday’s game kicks off, the Iowa Hawkeyes will break their own record for the…

‘Twas the afternoon before Thanksgiving and Indianapolis Colts owner Jim Irsay refused to let his name get dragged through the mud without fighting back. ESPN’s First Take discussed some of Irsay’s comments regarding a 2014 arrest that morning. Irsay caught wind and had a few things to say on social media, including the threat of a lawsuit. https://twitter.com/JimIrsay/status/1727432464811819442 That was just one of a few tweets sent by Irsay. He kicked things off with a picture featuring former Colts running back (and Pro Football Hall of Famer) Edgerrin James. The accompanying caption read “Hey, @stephenasmith–  my friend, and buddy, Edgerrin…

Pass rushers are massive game-changers in the NFL, especially as passing has become more common. Among the top 10 defenses in sacks, five of those units are also top 10 in scoring. Super Bowls have been won on the strength of a dominant pass rush. So, Pro Football Focus (PFF), as they do with every area of football, grades players based on their pass-rushing abilities. Before Thanksgiving kicks off Week 12, they posted the top four pass rushers of the season thus far. Take a look at the best of the best below. https://twitter.com/PFF/status/1727159979063308592 MVP Pass Rusher Myles Garrett? In…

New York Giants quarterback Daniel Jones appears on the “Up and Adams” show every Tuesday to chop it up with Kay Adams. Even after suffering a season-ending injury in Week 9, Jones has maintained his weekly appearances. On this week’s show, right before Thanksgiving, Jones announced that he is having surgery for his torn ACL on Wednesday, November 22, 2023. He also outlined that recovery for his knee should take 8-10 months. 2023 has been a lost year for both Jones and the New York Giants as a team. They are 3-8, largely due to an NFL-worst 13.5 points per…

Let’s get this out of the way early. Jalen Hurts is a fantastic player, by all accounts a phenomenal leader, and has been a bonafide winner at every level. The Philadelphia Eagles are 9-1, while every other team in the NFL has multiple losses. This isn’t a slight at Hurts or his team at all. However, he should not have jumped to the top of the 2023 MVP race as he has at most sportsbooks following Monday night’s victory. Not only was it personally an ugly Jalen Hurts performance by the numbers, but it highlighted exactly how valuable his teammates…

A lot of frustration has stemmed from Pittsburgh’s 13-10 loss to the Cleveland Browns. Diontae Johnson was already in the thick of things for comments made about a particular incompletion during the loss. Now, The Athletic has reported that Johnson had to be separated from a coach during the second half of a game. The report states that “Broderick Jones had to pick him up and carry him away,” before Johnson had another (civil) discussion with head coach Mike Tomlin. Diontae Johnson is far from alone among Pittsburgh’s frustrated offensive weapons. Running back Najee Harris said after Sunday’s loss “There’s…

Rex Ryan may not be coaching anymore, but his job with ESPN still keeps him involved with the NFL. On Monday morning, Ryan used his platform to blast Los Angeles Chargers head coach Brandon Staley. After saying Staley doesn’t belong in the NFL, Ryan went on to exclaim about his wife “She’d do a hell of a lot better job than this guy’s doing with this defense.” The former Jets head coach didn’t pull any punches when discussing Staley’s performance with the Chargers. https://twitter.com/OliverAHenzen/status/1726635547714822564 Highlights of Rex Ryan’s Rant Before even bringing his wife into this mess, Rex Ryan opened…

The Philadelphia Eagles (8-1) remain the NFL’s only one-loss team thanks to stalwart center Jason Kelce, new running back D’Andre Swift, and a nearly unstoppable offense. Meanwhile, despite future Hall of Fame tight end Travis Kelce still dominating, the Kansas City Chiefs (7-2) title defense is dependent on an impenetrable defense. The Kelce’s will converge again, this time with Swift in the mix, during 2023’s most anticipated Monday Night Football matchup. Will the Eagles avenge February’s championship loss, or do the Chiefs have their number? Monday’s star-studded meeting is the only way to find out. Philadelphia Eagles vs. Kansas City…
