‘Twas the afternoon before Thanksgiving and Indianapolis Colts owner Jim Irsay refused to let his name get dragged through the mud without fighting back. ESPN’s First Take discussed some of Irsay’s comments regarding a 2014 arrest that morning. Irsay caught wind and had a few things to say on social media, including the threat of a lawsuit.
1st take, your gonna get your ass Sued, because there was NO Alcohol,No illegal Drugs/ $29,000 dollars is low for me to be carrying in ,2014 arrest/I give away $2000-$10,000 dollars to the homeless and needed on the street,All the time and pass it on,making the world better❤️

That was just one of a few tweets sent by Irsay. He kicked things off with a picture featuring former Colts running back (and Pro Football Hall of Famer) Edgerrin James. The accompanying caption read “Hey, @stephenasmith— my friend, and buddy, Edgerrin James, from Spain on vacation together say ‘Get a life fool… you ain’t got a clue, fool,’ with a few emojis afterward.
In a later, more direct post, Irsay said:
“And on 1st Take, the Woman that preceded Stephen A… how dare you pretend to know me; I don’t know your name and I don’t care to. If my Black Mother Dorthy was still alive..you’d be in some big Hot Water! You are mean and ugly Your a Nothing Burger”
Kimberly A. Martin appeared to be the target of the attack, although Molly Qerim was the bridge between Martin and Stephen A. Smith. Other Irsay tweets sprinkled into this mess are centered around his family background as he attempts to defend himself.
What Started This Jim Irsay Spat
All of this began after comments that Jim Irsay made on HBO’s Real Sports with Bryant Gumbel regarding his driving under the influence arrest in 2014. Irsay said that he is “prejudiced against because I’m a rich, white billionaire,” among other things. He was given a chance to backtrack but instead doubled down, stating:
“I don’t care what it sounds like. It’s the truth,” he said. “You know, Andrea, I could give a damn what people think how anything sounds or sounds like. The truth is the truth and I know the truth.”
First Take was far from alone in criticizing Irsay’s comments. Yet, the Colts owner decided to swing back against them, in a way that only a billionaire could.
