Free Agency Trade of the Day: QB Kirk Cousins to the Falcons
One of the biggest talks of the season was about what the Vikings were going to do with Kirk Cousins. The Vikings let Kirk go after multiple unsuccessful seasons of playoff misfortune. Minnesota aims to look into the draft to look for someone who can feed Justin Jefferson.
The Falcons sign Kirk Cousins to a 4-year $180 million dollar contract, with $100 million guaranteed, with a $50 million signing bonus and a $12.5 million base salary for 2024. Atlanta definitely overpaid for Kirk Cousins in free agency, making him tied with Mahomes being the highest paid quarterback. Is this the right move for the Falcons, instead of going young in the Draft? I personally don’t believe it to be.
Cousins, coming off a season ending achilles injury in 2023, in 8 games played threw for 2331 yards, 18 touchdowns, and 5 interceptions.Cousins ranks fifth in passing yards (39,471) and fourth in passing touchdowns (279) among current QBs. Cousins looks to end his career in Atlanta with a shot at a Super Bowl title.
