RB Saquon Barkley to the Eagles
It was no surprise to the NFL world that Saquon would hit free agency after the 2023 season, but no one could have expected that Barkley would sign with the Divisional Rival Eagles. Barkley, haunted by constant injuries while being 27 is reaching his ceiling in his career. The Eagles landed a superstar running-back in Saquon Barkley, but the acquisition of Barkley doesn’t guarantee a fix at their running back position.
Barkley over the last 6 years in his career has been battling with reoccuring injuries and if the Eagles are trying to make a run for a title, they are going to have to sign or draft another running back to work behind Barkley, as there are slight concerns if the former Giant can be a three-down back in the league still.
Barkley last season played 14 games with the Giants accumulating 247 carries for 962 yards and 6 touchdowns. Barkley signed a 3 year $37 million deal, a $1.3 million base salary and a nearly $4 million cap hit in his first year with Philadelphia. then a huge $15 million cap hit in 2026.
