The Philadelphia Eagles have been very busy so far this off season. Losing numerous legendary players to retirement, and bringing in some star free agents. The most notable move this off season has been the acquisition of Saquon Barkley from their division rival. On Tuesday it was reported that they are now also bringing in former New England Patriots wide receiver Devante Parker.
Philadelphia Eagles Signing Devante Parker
The New England Patriots are set to release the receiver tomorrow which will enable him to sign with the Eagles. He had spent the last two season with the team and was not very productive at all.
“DeVante is thrilled and grateful to become a Philadelphia Eagle and to help this elite organization win a championship,” Parker’s agent Jimmy Gould told ESPN’s Adam Schefter.
The contract is supposed ot be worth $4.69 million and the Eagles will only have to pay $1.2 of that as the Patriots are going to have to pay the rest of it. So while many fans were confused about the signing, Philly just had to pay the minimum to add a little depth at a position that they are already stacked in.
The Philadelphia Eagles Are Only Focused On Offense
The Philadelphia Eagles already had a great offense and it was mostly their defense that was an issue down the stretch of the season. With Saquon and now Parker joining the team they continue to bolster an already stout offense but what about the defense? It has been reported that the team is going to trade their star defensive end Josh Sweat and they will also lose Fletcher Cox to retirement.
The Eagles still has many moves to make for the defensive side of the ball as they should be set offensively. Nick Sirianni is on the hot seat so that may have to do with all these offensive hires, but they will have to start focusing on the defense if they want to be real contenders in 2024.
