The New York Giants are desperately attempting to turn the tide in 2024 after a more than disappointing campaign in 2023 and everything is dependent on the play of QB Daniel Jones.
After his best performance of his career during the 2022 season, the Giants inked Jones to a four-year contract reportedly worth up to $160M that last March.
But Jones took a major step back in 2023.
Not only did he regress from a career-best season in 2022, but he also suffered the second major neck injury of his career and then suffered a torn ACL in Week 9.
New York Giants General Manager Joe Schoen was encouraged by Daniel Jones’ recovery throughout the offseason.
“He’s doing well. He’s running in a pool now, so he’s progressed to that,” Schoen told SiriusXM NFL Radio on Thursday. “He’s in there every day working hard. Again, I’ve said it multiple times, he’s a kid you’re going to have to pull back.
“He’s (in there) with our early-morning workout people. He’s in there by 6:30. He’s already getting his workout in every day. So, he’s going to work hard at it.”
Jones is suited up and ready to roll with the first day of training camp underway.
Instead of drafting a QB with the No. 6 overall pick in April’s NFL Draft, the New York Giants opted to ride with Jones for another season and drafted dynamic LSU WR Malik Nabers.
So naturally, Schoen and the Giants brass used the offseason to bolster the offensive line, giving Jones as much protection as possible heading into 2024.
Along with Jon Runayn Jr., the Giants signed former Raiders left tackle Jermaine Eluemunor, who was one of the team’s prized free agent additions. He is a favorite of offensive line coach Carmen Bricillo and was slated to start at guard this season. His addition was intended to help shore up an offensive line that was among the worst in football history just a year ago.
New York Giants OL Jermaine Eluemunor Injured In First Training Camp Practice
With Evan Neal on the physically unable to perform (PUP) list, Jermaine Eluemunor shifted outside to right tackle in his first training camp practice as a member of the New York Giants.
That ended swiftly.
During the final half of Wednesday’s practice, Eluemunor went down with an undisclosed injury and required the help of left tackle Andrew Thomas and head athletic trainer Ronnie Barnes to reach his feet.

Several trainers surrounded Eluemunor on the sideline and eventually, they called for the cart but the veteran waved it off and walked back into the building under his own power.
Giants reporter Connor Hughes was on hand and said it looked like a possible arm injury, but everything is speculation at this point.
The 29-year-old signed a two-year, $14 million deal with the New York Giants this offseason.
If Eluemunor misses any significant time, this would obviously be a major blow to the Giants as they look to rebuild one of the worst offensive lines in the NFL. More information will come out in the coming days, but in the meantime Giants fans are crossing their fingers and hoping for the best.
