As NFL free agency has been taking up most of the major news, there has been a shocking story that keeps taking very interesting turns. Last week, the Kansas City Chiefs ownership and president revealed that, in the middle of the this dynasty run, the team may leave the city of Kansas City.
In a shocking report president of the Chiefs Mark Donovan, when commenting on whether or not there is a chance the team leaves the city, said:
“I just know that for us, the Chiefs, we have to look at all of our options,” Donovan said.
NFL And Chiefs Owner Send Clear Threat To Leave Kansas City
The Chiefs have been in Kansas City since 1963! It is crazy to think, but the team is throwing the idea of moving out there. This is all dependent on an upcoming vote on a sales tax and whether or not it goes in favor for the organization. In short, the team wants to build renovations to the stadium and it would use the money they get from the tax break to do it.
If the vote does not go in their favor, they are legitimately thinking about relocating the team to another city. In an interview, Chiefs president Mark Donovan expressed that they need to look at all their options saying:
“I can’t answer that for the Royals. I just know for us the Chiefs, we would just have to look at all our options,” Donovan told Kevin Holmes.
But he went further than that saying that while of course they would love to stay in Kansas City, it just may not be feasible with the plans they have for the organization. Donovan said he wants to stay but he is certainly not ruling out the notion of relocating the team to a different city.
“I think they would have to include leaving Kansas City. But our goal here is, we want to stay here. And we’re willing to accept a deal for the county to actually stay here,” Donovan explained.
Patrick Mahomes And Travis Kelce Try To Help
The NFL is first and foremost a business, and there is a real enough chance that the team may leave the city that they got Patrick Mahomes and Travis Kelce to try and help encourage fans to vote in their favor.
Earlier in the month, the organization released a video featuring Patrick Mahomes, Travis Kelce and others urging fans to vote in favor for the team in the upcoming vote. After their star players appear in the video to convince the fans, now you have the president applying even more pressure with his comments.
It would be absolutely insane for the team to actually make a move. We will know on April 2nd if this story is going to heat up big time or simply be put to rest. If the vote does not go in their favor however, we may see the most insane organizational relocation in the history of sports.

Arrowhead is a pig with lipstick on it. You can only do so much with a 50 plus yr old stadium. Things that can be done were done already in the 2006 upgrade. This new project is nothing more than a glorified parking lot upgrade. Now don’t get me started on the 50 yrs of the blighted area around Arrowhead. The practice facility is nothing more than a metal barn. The punter can’t even punt in the facility without hitting the rafters. Vote no
