Have the New England Patriots found their next franchise quarterback?
After a promising rookie season, Mac Jones never really improved and is not the answer as the successor to Tom Brady for the New England Patriots. That opinion became a fact as the club sent their 2021 15th overall selection in the form of Jones, to the Jacksonville Jaguars for a sixth-round pick in this weekend’s NFL Draft.
The Patriots didn’t get too cute in Thursday’s first round of the 2024 NFL Draft as the Jerod Mayo era has begun with North Carolina signal-caller, Drake Maye being the 3rd overall selection.
With Maye being the potential future in New England, let’s take a look at every selection from the new regime in Foxboro.
New England Patriots 2024 NFL Draft Selections
- Round 1, Pick 3: Drake Maye, QB, North Carolina
- Round 2, Pick 37: Ja’Lynn Polk, WR, Washington
- Round 3, Pick 68: Caedan Wallace, OT, Penn State
- Round 4, Pick 103: Layden Robinson, G, Texas A&M
- Round 4, Pick 110: Javon Baker, WR, Central Florida
- Round 6, Pick 180: Marcellas Dai, CB, South Carolina
- Round 6, Pick 193: Joe Milton III, QB, Tennessee
- Round 7, Pick 231: Jaheim Bell, TE, Florida State
With quite possibly the worst set of offensive weapons heading into the weekend, the New England Patriots did a solid job of securing their potential quarterback of the future while adding potentially two immediate impact receivers in the form of Ja’Lynn Polk and Javon Baker. Another questionable spot for the Pats was the offensive line next to stalwarts Michael Onwenu and David Andrews, which the club took a few swings on as they brought in Caedan Wallace and Layden Robinson, which gives them another couple of cracks at the bat after drafting Sidy Sow, Atonio Mafi, and Jake Andrews, in last year’s draft.
