The Los Angeles Chargers look like they are firing everyone on the coaching staff today. Head coach Brandon Staley and general manager Tom Telesco were both relieved of their duties this morning, sending the NFL world into a frenzy. It looks like the team is not done firing just yet as they have now fired another coach following the big moves.

Chargers Fire Another Coach
Defensive run game coordinator and defensive line coach Jay Rodgers has been terminated by the team following the 63-21 blowout loss to the Las Vegas Raiders. Rodgers was in his second season as the defensive run game/ defensive line coach for the Chargers, which is a position he coached for 10 years in the NFL. He also served as the outside linebackers coach for the team back in 2021 before assuming the defensive line duties. He is a former recipient of the John Teerlinck Award, which is given out annually to the league’s top defensive line coach.
While Rodgers has a decorated resumé, it has not translated to success in Los Angeles. The Chargers have had the worst run defense in the league throughout Rodgers’ tenure with the team, which has led to him being released along with Staley and Telesco. It looks like the team is cleaning house to secure a new coaching staff for next season.
Los Angeles Chargers Head Coach Rumors
Los Angeles has been rumored to be a likely landing spot for New England Patriots head coach Bill Belichick and Michigan head coach Jim Harbaugh. These firings within the coaching staff could mean one of these big-name coaches could be coming over to the team to bring along coordinators they think best suit their scheme.
The Chargers are 5-9 and in last place in the AFC West division. They will likely miss the postseason this year barring an absolute miracle, but it looks like owner Dean Spanos is ready to move on to bigger and better things. No new hirings are officially in place just yet, but it looks like the team is ready to make a splash for their coaching staff next season.
