An important update regarding the 49ers quarterback, Brock Purdy was announced Tuesday night. According to reports, Brock Purdy’s surgery on his UCL has been delayed. The surgery was set to take place Wednesday, February 22nd. Purdy met with Dr. Keith Meister earlier today to discuss the procedure, and that is when an update on Brock Purdy’s surgery was announced.
Brock Purdy’s Surgery
Tom Pelissero reported in a tweet that upon meeting with Dr. Keith Meister, Brock Purdy’s surgery will be postponed. This is due to inflammation in the elbow still being too much for Surgery. Purdy and the doctor will meet again in early March, but this is still a minor setback for the quarterback.

They’ll reconvene in early March. All signs continue to point a UCL repair that would have Purdy ready for the 2023 season.

Pirdy is still expected to make a full recovery in time for the 2023 NFL season. Purdy is expected to be out for six months following the procedure, and the delay should only be for a couple of weeks. The idea is for the inflammation to go down and have the quarterback’s range of motion return as much as possible. March is only a week away, and Brock Purdy’s surgery will be rescheduled as soon as Dr. Keith Meister feels it is the best time to ensure Purdy makes a 100% recovery.
As for now, the quarterback debate between Purdy and Trey Lance can continue, as the two are expected to be fully healthy by the start of the 2023 season.
