The 2023 XFL season is approaching quickly since the new ownership group was announced a couple of years ago. On the teams, there will be a couple of Penn State players in the XFL. Each team has finalized their roster to 51 men. The league will consist of eight teams, and of the eight, three teams have former Penn State players on them. Here is a look at which Nittany Lions are players in the XFL this year.

Penn State Players in the XFL:

Michal Menet – Seattle Sea Dragons

Former Penn State center, Michal Menet is one of the players in the XFL and is listed on the Seattle Sea Dragons roster. Menet joined the Nittany Lions in 2016, though it was a redshirt season for him. 2020 was his final season with the team before entering the NFL Draft.

Menet was picked in the seventh round of the 2021 NFL draft by the Arizona Cardinals. The Cardinals ended up placing Menet on the practice squad for the 2021 season. In the 2022 season, he was signed to the Greenbay Packers practice squad. Menet is another young player who can find success as one of the players in the XFL.

Shareef Miller – Seattle Sea Dragons

Defensive lineman, Shareef Miller was with the Penn State Nittany Lions from 2015 to 2018. Miller did not play his first year, but in his final year, he did very well with the Nittany Lions, having a total of 7.5 sacks, according to Sports Reference. Following Miller’s time with Penn State, he was drafted by the Philadelphia Eagles in the 2019 NFL Draft. Miller was taken in the fourth round.

Miller’s career never took off with the Eagles and he ended up bouncing around with a couple of NFL teams for about two years. Following his time in the NFL, Miller was picked up by the New Orleans Breakers in the USFL for their 2022 season. Now, Miller will have a chance to show off his skills with the Seattle Sea Dragons in the XFL.

Steven Gonzalez – St. Louis Battlehawks

Offensive lineman, Steven Gonzalez played for the Penn State Nittany Lions from 2015 to 2019. Following his time with Penn State, Gonzalez went undrafted to the Buffalo Bills. Still young at 25, Gonzalez will have the chance to make his name known as one of the players in the XFL. The offensive lineman will be playing on the St. Louis Battlehawks.

    Robert Windsor – Vegas Vipers

Defensive Tackle, Robert Windsor played with the Nittany Lions from 2015-2019. After his fifth year with the team, Windsor was drafted by the Indianapolis Colts in the 2020 NFL Draft. The former Nittany Lion was picked in the sixth round of the draft.

Windsor spent two years with the Colts before announcing on Twitter that he would be retiring from the NFL.  Now with the XFL starting back up, Windsor will make his way back to professional football with the Vegas Vipers.

    John Lovett – Vegas Vipers

John Lovett finished his collegiate career with Penn State in 2021. Although he did not begin there, he is still one of the former Penn State players in the XFL. Lovett spent some time with the Carolina Panthers but ultimately will look to make his name known when the XFL begins.

The XFL will make its return Saturday, February 18th. The first game will be between the Arlington Renegades and the Vegas Vipers. Watch for these Penn State players in the XFL this season, as they look to make their names known and get their teams a win.
