There has been breaking news coming out of the USFL this morning regarding the 2023 USFL Draft. It has been announced that the New Jersey Generals will lose their first-round draft pick this year. The USFL draft is set to be this Tuesday, February 21st. With a lot of excitement, now the Generals will lose their first-round pick, and other picks will be moved around as well.

New Jersey Generals Will Lose First-Round Pick

The USFL required teams to have their rosters down to 58 players. While many teams understood these rules, the Generals had 78 men on their roster and had to release many players. According to the USFL rules, the teams are not allowed to release the players that they signed in the current off-season. New Jersey broke this rule, and now the Generals will lose their first-round pick.

The New Jersey Generals first round pick has been taken away for violating off-season roster rules.

The Generals had 71 players on their roster, and to get down to 58 (the max number of players), they had to released players signed in the off-season, which is illegal.

In addition to losing their pick in the first round, it has been reported that their picks in rounds two, three, four, five, and ten will be moved. The Generals were set to be the sixth team to pick in those rounds, but will now be the eighth. This is a big blow to a team looking to repeat the strong season they had last year.

Despite the fact that the Generals will lose their first-round pick, be sure to keep up with the USFL draft on Tuesday to see how New Jersey and the other teams will be affected by this punishment.

Important to note: The first-round pick is not completely gone. The Generals will still have ten picks, but it will be moved to the last pick of the draft.
