Per multiple reports, a former New England Patriots and New York Giants player died on Thursday at the age of 28.
Former New England Patriots OT died Thursday
According to RLS Media, local police found Korey Cunningham’s body at his residence. Police say the cause of death was “self-inflicted”:
“Police and emergency medical services responded to the scene shortly before 3:30 p.m. after reports emerged of an unconscious man at the location.
Upon arrival, officials discovered Cunningham and promptly notified the medical examiner.
RLS Media was informed by law enforcement sources that Cunningham’s death was self-inflicted.
His body was removed from the property by the State Regional Medical Examiner’s Office around 4:30 p.m.”
The Arizona Cardinals drafted Korey Cunningham
Cunningham was a standout offensive lineman for Cincinnati in college. The Arizona Cardinals drafted Cunningham in the seventh round of the 2018 NFL Draft. He played with the Patriots during the 2019-20 seasons before signing with the Gaints in 2021. He was released during training camp last year.
The New York Giants release statement on Cunningham
On X, the Giants released a statement on Cunningham’s death Friday morning:
