It has been announced that the Rutgers Football Pro Day will take place on March 21st. Despite not being known for having top-round picks, Rutgers has shown that they can develop great late-round picks. Isiah Pacheco put Rutgers’ name back into the NFL while scoring a touchdown in the Super Bowl, and wearing a Rutgers sweatshirt to the parade. Now more Scarlet Knights will show what they can do this year at the Rutgers Football Pro Day. Although who will be participating is not confirmed yet, here is who to watch for in March if they do.

Rutgers Football Pro Day: Names to Watch

    Adam Korsak

Rutgers punter, Adam Korsak is the only Scarlet Knight this year to get an invite to the 2023 NFL Combine. Korsak has broken many records with the Scarlet Knights, such as the most punting yards in NCAA history. According to ESPN, Korsak punted for 15,318 yards in five years. Although the streak ended, he also had 150 consecutive punts without a touchback. For more of Korsak’s records, read here. Korsak was also the winner of the Ray Guy Award. Korsak will be a name to watch during the Rutgers Football Pro Day, and the NFL Draft.

    Avery Young

Safety Avery Young is a player that can take advantage of the Rutgers Pro Day this year. Young has been with the Scarlet Knights for five seasons and has been one of their top players on the defense. This past season, Young had 80 combined tackles, 46 of which were solo, one sack, and four pass deflections according to ESPN. As for turnovers, Young had one forced fumble and one interception for 15 yards. Young may not be the top player on draft boards, but has a chance to be a steal in the draft.

    Christian Izien

Defensive back Christian Izien is another player to watch during the Rutgers Football Pro Day. Izien spent four years with the Scarlet Knights and really stepped up this season. This year, Izien had 83 total tackles, 52 of which were solo, and 1.5 sacks, according to ESPN. Despite having no forced turnovers, Izien did have five pass deflections this season. Expect Izien to be a high-priority free agent, especially if he makes an impression in March.

    Ifeanyi Maijeh

Defensive lineman, Ifeanyi Maijeh has spent five years with the Scarlet Knights and is now moving on. Maijeh has done well on a strong Rutgers defense, and while he was not invited to the 2023 NFL Combine, he has a chance to make strong impressions with NFL scouts and coaches. This season, Maijeh has 37 total tackles, 12 being solo, and two sacks, according to ESPN. He also had one forced fumble and one pass deflection this season. Maijeh has the potential to be a high-priority free agent based on the Rutgers Football Pro Day in March.

    Max Melton

Sophomore defensive back Max Melton has been with the Scarlet Knights for three years. As an underclassman, nothing is confirmed as of now if he will be participating. If he does, Melton will be a top player to watch during this Rutgers Football Pro Day. According to ESPN, Melton had 33 total tackles this season, 23 of which were solo. He also had nine pass deflections, one fumble recovery, and two interceptions just this season. One of the most notable plays this season by Melton was his blocked punt against Michigan. This play was returned for a Rutgers touchdown to tie the game and can be watched here.

These are definitely not the only Rutgers players to watch, as the players participating have not been announced yet. This is an early list of players to watch now that the Rutgers Football Pro Day date has been announced.
