I write about college football, it's past, present, and future. I cover Ohio State, BYU, the Big Ten, national college awards, and the MAC. The Ohio State Buckeyes and the BYU Cougars are my ride and die teams and I admit my heart is swayed toward the Scarlet and Gray and Royal Blue. I love my state of Ohio.

Author’s Note: These are not the official Big Ten Players of the Week, but my Big Ten Players of the Week as a writer for Gridiron Heroics. Co-Offensive Players of the Week: Chase Brown, Illinois, Running Back, Junior. College football’s leading rusher had another great game for Illinois. Brown had 35 touches (32 rushing, 3 receiving) for 172 yards (159 rushing, 13 receiving) and two touchdowns (one rushing, one receiving) in the Illini’s win over Nebraska. Blake Corum, Michigan, Running Back, Junior. He had 34 touches for 178 total yards and two touchdowns. Corum is averaging 6.0 yards per carry…

Heisman Watch and National Players of the Week – Week 9 Heisman Watch The Leaders: C.J. Stroud, Ohio State, Quarterback, Junior. The national media is saying C.J. struggled against Penn State, yet he still was 26 of 33 for 354 yards and a touchdown and no turnovers. He is still 159 of 223 for 2,377 yards and 29 touchdowns (which is tied for 1st nationally) and his quarterback rating is 93.1 which is first in the entire country. Hendon Hooker, Tennessee, Quarterback, Senior. Another great game by Hooker has him and Stroud at virtually 1a and 1b and whichever one…

For those of you who are first-time readers, welcome! Here is a link explaining my process of how I recap BYU games while paying respect to the rich historical tradition of the BYU Cougars I love. BYU Game 9 View from the Midwest – BYU vs. East Carolina Trying to save this defense. The defense is struggling in two very large areas and has been without exception all this year. They can not get the offense back on the field and they are losing the battle at the line of scrimmage and can’t make negative plays on the opposing offense. Getting the…

For those of you who are first-time readers, welcome! Here is a link explaining my process of how I recap Buckeye games while paying respect to the rich historical tradition of the team I love, The Ohio State Buckeyes. -Favorite Stats of the Game: Ohio State was plus-four in the turnover margin. 44 points is the most ever given up by Penn State in a loss at home in the 52 year history of Beaver Stadium. That is quite the feat at that notoriously difficult place to travel to and win. The Buckeyes had quite an up-and-down game, but forcing four turnovers…

Author’s Note: These are not the official Big Ten Players of the Week, but my Big Ten Players of the Week as a writer for Gridiron Heroics. Co-Offensive Player of the Week: C.J. Stroud, Ohio State, Quarterback, Junior. He was 20 of 30 for 286 yards and four touchdowns. Stroud was stymied in the first half but after an early interception in the second half when 10 of 12 for 182 yards and four touchdowns as the Buckeyes wrecked the top-five ranked Iowa defense. Sean Clifford, Penn State, Quarterback, Senior. Clifford was 23 of 31 for 295 yards and four…

Heisman Watch and National Players of the Week-Week 8 Heisman Watch The Leaders: C.J. Stroud, Ohio State, Quarterback, Junior. Stroud (7) exchanges greetings with Iowa’s captains before kickoff. (Photo by Ohio State Athletics) Against one of the top defenses in the nation, Stroud had some early struggles but was very sharp late. He was 20 of 30 for 286 yards and four touchdowns. On the season he is 133 of 190 for 2,023 yards and 28 touchdowns. Stroud has a quarterback rating of 92.6 which is the best in the country. It is still his race to lose but Hendon…

Game 8 View from the Midwest – BYU at Liberty For those of you who are first-time readers, welcome! Here is a link explaining my process of how I recap BYU games while paying respect to the rich historical tradition of the BYU Cougars I love. Team effort: This was a complete loss by BYU. Both sides of the ball struggled to do much of anything. Liberty more than doubled BYU in yards gained (547 to 258), first downs (28 to 12), third-down conversions (7 of 11 to 3 of 11), and nearly in time of possession (39:13 to 20:47), on the…

Game 7 View from the Couch – Ohio State vs. Iowa For those of you who are first-time readers, welcome! Here is a link explaining my process of how I recap Buckeye games while paying respect to the rich historical tradition of the team I love, The Ohio State Buckeyes. -Favorite Stat of the Game: Buckeye scoring against the Hawkeyes. Iowa allowed a combined 59 points through their first six games. In their seventh game today, they gave up 54. Iowa had given up five touchdowns all season. Ohio State scored five touchdowns on them today. This was the largest win over…

Author’s Note: These are not the official Big Ten Players of the Week, but my Big Ten Players of the Week as a writer for Gridiron Heroics. Offensive Player of the Week: Aidan O’Connell, Purdue, Quarterback, Senior. O’Connell was 35 of 54 for 391 yards and four touchdowns in Purdue’s win over Nebraska Saturday night. After an early loss to Penn State and an ugly loss to still undefeated Syracuse I had written O’Connell and Purdue off but the Boilermakers are now tied for first in the Wild Big Ten West with Illinois. Honorable Mention: Chase Brown, Illinois, Running Back,…
