I write about college football, it's past, present, and future. I cover Ohio State, BYU, the Big Ten, national college awards, and the MAC. The Ohio State Buckeyes and the BYU Cougars are my ride and die teams and I admit my heart is swayed toward the Scarlet and Gray and Royal Blue. I love my state of Ohio.

Ohio State Football Report February 25th, 2023 Stroud and Jones Call Out Buckeye Basketball. https://twitter.com/dawandj79/status/1624864364636565504 https://twitter.com/dawandj79/status/1624864364636565504 With the Ohio State Basketbucks on a month-long losing streak, the Buckeye football players took to Twitter to call them out. C.J. Stroud and Dawand Jones had previously talked about wanting to take on the basketball team on the hardwood and after another brutal Buckeye loss, Buckeye Nation was recalling said time. Asking again if Buckeye fans remember that time Jones and Stroud said they could beat the men’s basketball team, 6’8″ (with a 7’5″ wingspan) Dawand Jones said “We still can.” and his…

Ohio State Football Report February 11th, 2023 In Memoriam; Dimitrious Stanley The Ohio State family lost a beloved member this week when Dimitrious Stanley passed away after a four-year-long battle with prostate cancer. He was 48 and leave’s behind a wife, daughter, and stepdaughters. Dimitrious Stanley was one of my early Buckeye heroes. His touchdown in the Rose Bowl, and that game itself are some of my earliest Buckeye memories. After his playing career, in the early 2000s, until he stepped away, I would watch him, Clay Hall, and Anthony Rothman on Football Fever. It would come on ABC in…

I don’t like that we aren’t following the example of the conference that is leading the way in NIL and has led the nation in national titles. I guess time will tell, and despite getting the only five-star in the conference and only one of 39 in the nation, Ryan Day got seven players in the top 100 which was tied for fifth best in the country which is where the Buckeyes recruiting class landed for 2023. Coach Day seems to be keeping Ohio State football in the top five where it belongs.

Ohio State Football Report January 28th, 2023 Moving On to Championship Weekend Tomorrow these Buckeyes will play for an opportunity to get to the Super Bowl. I was going to try to put highlights of them from their respective teams but for some reason the No Fun League won’t let me share highlights even from their site or official social media accounts. So instead here’s their highlights on the best dang team in the land. No matter who wins on the NFC side, at least one Buckeye will be playing in the Super Bowl. On the AFC side only the…

Buckeye Football Report: January 21st, 2023 C.J. Stroud First and foremost in the Buckeye Report of this week is the departure of C.J. Stroud. Stroud will very likely be the first quarterback taken in the NFL Draft this spring, so it’s no surprise he declared on Monday. ESPN’s Greg McElroy said there was no doubt Stroud was going pro. I respect his take here but I think if Stroud was for sure gone, he would not have waited as long as he did. This was a tough decision for C.J. Stroud and in waiting till the last day to declare…

The Best of the 2022 College Football Season I purposefully waited to write about my selections for yearly awards for college football after the completion of the season. I know it’s a fun thing to do between the end of a season and bowl games but it always brings up a conversation if the Heisman winner has a poor postseason, or the runner-up smokes his opponent, or if the coach of the year makes a season-ending bad call. Some years nothing really changes after the season is completed, and other years everything would. It just makes more sense to decide…

C.J. Stroud is NFL Bound, Declares for 2023 NFL Draft Buckeye Great Stroud Says Goodbye to Ohio State https://twitter.com/phillipriggs85/status/1615035780283392000 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=K9lmcWJO36k Ohio State quarterback C.J. Stroud declared for the NFL Draft on Monday. Stroud, the Buckeyes’ second all-time leader in career passing yards (8,123) and passing touchdowns (85) was clearly torn on his decision. He waited until the last possible day to declare for the draft and it’s obvious that it was no easy decision for him. It is nice that he did one last thing to show his love for Ohio State and Buckeye Nation. https://twitter.com/i/status/1615027459807932416 The Buckeye signal caller…

Buckeye Report: January 14th, 2023 I’m trying something new here at Gridiron Heroics. Well, since we’re new everything is essentially new but this weekly update on The Ohio State Buckeyes is new to me. This time we’re covering everything new since the heartbreak of the Peach Bowl. There’s a lot to get into so here we go. Justin Fields The Bears seem to be all in on Justin Fields. The Chicago Bears are choosing with the number one overall pick in the NFL Draft this Spring. Most indications are that they are going to stick with Justin Fields and build…

The All-Americans of the 2022 College Football Season I am doing things differently than most who write things like this. There are two main differences. The first is I wait until after the season is completed and take all the games into account. The second is taking into account how full of a season players played. For example, the two best running backs in college football were probably Blake Corum of Michigan and Bijan Robinson of Texas. They, however, missed their last games. Corum because of injury and Robinson to prepare for the NFL Draft. I don’t fault either player…
