I write about college football, it's past, present, and future. I cover Ohio State, BYU, the Big Ten, national college awards, and the MAC. The Ohio State Buckeyes and the BYU Cougars are my ride and die teams and I admit my heart is swayed toward the Scarlet and Gray and Royal Blue. I love my state of Ohio.

Official Rankings My College Football Playoff Rankings Week 11 Top 25 1) Georgia The Dawgs are still on top. They overcome adversity like a couple of interceptions and get the ball in the hands of their playmakers and are the top team in football. 2) Michigan The Wolverines and the Buckeyes are interchangeable to me at this point. That’s why I have them ranked #2 but have the Buckeyes in my playoff projections. It can easily be the other way around. Michigan’s big advantage is they are firm in their foundation of who they are as a team. Ohio State…

Author’s Note: These are not the official Big Ten Players of the Week, but my Big Ten Players of the Week as a writer for Gridiron Heroics. Offensive Player of the Week: C.J. Stroud, Ohio State, Quarterback, Junior. Stroud was 17 of 28 for 297 yards and five touchdowns in the win over Indiana. Stroud needed this kind of game to get back on track after the windstorm against Northwestern slowed him and the Buckeyes down. This time they proved why he’s the Big Ten’s best quarterback. Defensive Player of the Week: Cooper DeJean, Iowa, Defensive Back, Sophomore. DeJean had…

Heisman Watch and National Players of the Week – Week 11 Heisman Watch The Leaders: C.J. Stroud, Ohio State, Quarterback, Junior. Stroud was 17 of 28 for 305 total yards and five touchdowns. On the season he is 186 of 277 for 2,750 yards and 34 touchdowns. It seems like not only are Ohio State and Michigan on a collision course for a game between undefeated teams but it’s looking to be a game that decides the Heisman trophy as well. Whichever star carries his team to a win will be the heavy favorite for the Heisman. Blake Corum, Michigan,…

Ohio State Game 10 View from the Couch – Ohio State vs. Indiana For those of you who are first-time readers, welcome! Here is a link explaining my process of how I recap Buckeye games while paying respect to the rich historical tradition of the team I love, The Ohio State Buckeyes. Favorite Stat of the Game: 662 yards of total offense and 56 points. It was so nice to see this after only 21 last week against Northwestern AND to see it in a game with lousy weather. I know the Hoosier defense this year is as lousy as the weather…

College Football Playoff Rankings Week 10 Week 9 (November 5th, 2022) Georgia (9-0) The defending champions are defending the championship. They can clinch the SEC East next Saturday with a win at Mississippi State or a Tennessee loss to Missouri. Their giant win over Tennessee clearly has them at the top of the college football playoff rankings. Michigan (9-0) Being most of my readers are Buckeye fans they’ll hate me for this. Looking at this season Ohio State and Michigan are even. But formula they used to beat Ohio State last year is still viable, Michigan is still using well,…

Heisman Watch and National Players of the Week – Week 10 Heisman Watch The Leaders: Max Duggan, TCU, Quarterback, Senior. I’m surprised here too, but Stroud and Hooker’s troubles are Duggan’s blessing. Duggan was 12 of 23 for 195 yards and two touchdowns in the win over Texas Tech. Duggan and the rest of those in the Heisman Watch are benefiting from the tough games Hendon Hooker and C.J. Stroud had over the weekend. Duggan is 161 of 244 for 2,407 yards and 24 touchdowns passing and 76 carries for 282 yards and four touchdowns rushing in the Cinderella season…

Here is a link explaining my process of how I recap BYU games while paying respect to the rich historical tradition of the BYU Cougars I love. John Beck Player of the Game: Jaren Hall. Jaren Hall had the best game of his BYU career against Boise State. He was 29 of 42 for 377 yards and three touchdowns passing and had 12 carries for 82 yards and a touchdown rushing. That’s 459 yards and four touchdowns. An outstanding game for…

Author’s Note: These are not the official Big Ten Players of the Week, but my Big Ten Players of the Week as a writer for Gridiron Heroics. Offensive Player of the Week: Kaleb Johnson, Iowa, Running Back, Freshman. The freshman from Hamilton, Ohio, and Butler County, Ohio’s own had a fantastic game for the Hawkeyes. He had 22 carries for 200 yards and a touchdown rushing and had a pair of catches for 17 yards receiving. He is the brightest spot of light the Hawkeyes have had offensively all season. Defensive Player of the Week: Michael Barrett, Michigan, Linebacker, Senior.…

Game 9 View from the Couch – Ohio State at Northwestern For those of you who are first-time readers, welcome! Here is a link explaining my process of how I recap Buckeye games while paying respect to the rich historical tradition of the team I love, The Ohio State Buckeyes. -Favorite Stat of the Game: 79 rushing yards by C.J. Stroud. A lot has been said in the great state of Ohio and beyond about C.J. Stroud running the football. When asked about not rushing much last year Stroud responded that he wasn’t a running back. Last year and this year, there…
