The College Football Video game, College Football 25 (CFB 25), is expected to be released in just a couple of months in July, and the full reveal is expected in May. As we get closer to those deadlines we are starting to see more and more news revealed. We just got news on what the cover athlete will look like per Matt Brown of extra points.

“There are multiple cover athletes since EA is releasing multiple versions of the video game. Each cover athlete is a current college football player who plays in a different power conference. There was plenty of internet speculation that the cover athlete could potentially be a coach (Nick Saban?), or any number of athletes that played during the years the game was not released (previous Heisman winners?) or even fans/mascots (the Oregon Duck?!?). Those were reasonable guesses, but I’ve been told that the athletes will be current athletes…people you will see play actual college football this season. The athletes all play different positions. That means there’s only one quarterback, one running back, etc.”

We have seen the EA Sports franchise do this in the past with different covers across different platforms, with NCAA Football 2009, and NCAA Football 10. With that in mind, these are some predictions of who the Cover Athletes will be.

College Football 25 Cover Athlete 1: Quarterback Shedeur Sanders

My first projected cover artist is Colorado quarterback, Shedeur Sanders. This one is a near lock, Sanders is the biggest name in college football, at the most important position. Colorado lit the college world on fire at the beginning of the season a year ago. This year Colorado should be more competitive, and we can expect them to play in some primetime spots next year. Also, Sanders is currently the favorite to be the number-one pick in the NFL Draft next year.

College Football 25 Cover Athlete 2: Edge JT Tuimoloau

With multiple cover athletes, it’s only reasonable to expect a player to represent the defensive side of the football, and JT Tuimoloau will check the Big Ten, and big-time college football program box as well. The Ohio State Buckeyes have the second most likely odds to win the national championship in 2024 and will be one of the most played teams in the game. Also, having a big defender on the cover will offer a cool look.

College Football 25 Cover Athlete 3: Wide Receiver Luther Burden III

In what could be a surprise to some people, I do not think the SEC representative will come out of Texas, Georgia, or Alabama, I believe it will be the best overall player in the conference, Missouri’s Luther Burden III. Burden put up video game-like numbers a season ago including six 100+ yard games for the Tigers. Burden will definitely be one of the most electrifying players in the video game next year.

College Football 25 Cover Athlete 4: Running Back Omarion Hampton

Based on my other predictions the only conference that still needs to be represented is the ACC, and it’s hard for me to believe a running back will be left off of one of the covers. Arguably the best running back in the conference, and top running back prospect in the upcoming draft is North Carolina’s Omarion Hampton. Hampton put up video game numbers at North Carolina recording seven 100+ yard games and averaging 5.9 yards per carry. CFB 25 users will love using Hampton this summer when the game is released.
