I write about college football, it's past, present, and future. I cover Ohio State, BYU, the Big Ten, national college awards, and the MAC. The Ohio State Buckeyes and the BYU Cougars are my ride and die teams and I admit my heart is swayed toward the Scarlet and Gray and Royal Blue. I love my state of Ohio.

The Top 25 Best Teams of the 2022 Season (And a way too early look at the Top 25 going into 2023) My Top 25 of 2022 1) Georgia Despite looking beatable at times this year (a trait most teams founded on great defense shares) the Dawgs emphatically repeated. 29-1 in two seasons is amazing. They are the undisputed champions of college football. They made Vince Dooley proud. There’s nothing else that can be said, the goose egg in 15-0 does all the talking that needs to be done. 2) TCU I know they just got pasted 65-7 but TCU…

Ohio State Game 13 View from the Couch – The College Football Playoff Semi-Final, the Peach Bowl, Ohio State vs Georgia For those of you who are first-time readers, welcome! Here is a link explaining my process of how I recap Buckeye games while paying respect to the rich historical tradition of the team I love, The Ohio State Buckeyes. The Deciding Factor: The dirty hit on Marvin Harrison Jr. https://twitter.com/Bucknuts247/status/1609399980661374977 After receiving a textbook targeting hit that the refs overturned supposedly claiming the defender didn’t hit Harrison in the head, the Buckeyes were outscored 18-3 for the remainder of the game.…

Cougars Overcomes Losses 8-5 looked like a long shot after BYU’s loss to ECU, their fourth straight. Injuries had hobbled the Cougars all year and the New Mexico Bowl would be no different. The Cougs made some changes…

Heisman Watch and National Players of the Week – Week 14 (Conference Championship Weekend) Heisman Watch The Finish Line This is crazy! My top six going into the final week of the regular season my top five were Caleb Williams of USC, C.J. Stroud of Ohio State, Blake Corum of Michigan, Max Duggan of TCU, Bo Nix of Oregon, and Drake Maye of North Carolina. Stroud and Nix played themselves out of Conference Championship Weekend and Corum had to have season-ending knee surgery. That left Williams, Duggan, and Maye all of who lost this past weekend when the Heisman was…

College Football Playoff Rankings Week 14 Official Rankings My College Football Playoff Rankings Week 14 My Top 25 and the Committee’s Top 25 1) Georgia (13-0) CFP Committee has Georgia at 1) I don’t think there was any doubt that Georgia is the #1 team in the country but whatever slight doubts may have existed after Michigan’s win over Ohio State, the Bulldogs erased them as they drubbed LSU 50-30. If Stetson Bennett had played as well all year as he did against Tennessee and LSU he’d be adding a Heisman to Georgia’s trophy case. The Dawgs are the heavy…

The Last Hope of the Desperate; Day, Buckeyes at a Crossroads Before getting to the heart of the matter, I must clarify a few things. Ryan Day is a good man. He and his wife gave 100,000$ to a cause near and dear to my heart and Coach Day’s heart, mental health. Coach Day is a good college football coach. He has won two Big Ten Championships, has made the College Football Playoff twice, has won the Sugar Bowl, has won the Rose Bowl, and has coached his quarterbacks to win five straight Big Ten Offensive Player of the Year…

Official Rankings My College Football Playoff Rankings Week 13 My Top 25 and the Committee’s Top 25 1) Georgia (12-0) CFP Committee has Georgia at 1) The Dawgs are still the Dawgs and have the champion’s advantage. Although if they struggle to beat LSU I wouldn’t be opposed to having Michigan jump them to the number one spot. In fact I predict IF (and it’s a big if) both USC and TCU were to be upset, Michigan would be #1, Georgia #2, Ohio State #3, and Tennessee or Alabama #4. 2) Michigan (12-0) CFP Committee has Michigan at 2) Georgia…

Riggs’ Redhawks Red Zone. Red Birds Battle for a Bowl Game A Special Game to a Football Fan from Butler County, Ohio. I’ve been a football fan for a very long time. Since I was Steve Young in my backyard because we were both left-handed and of the same faith. To rooting for Eddie George in his Heisman-winning season when I was nine years old. To rooting for George in the Buckeyes to beat Tennessee and Peyton Manning on New Year’s Day 1996 in the Citrus Bowl, even though my Dad, Grandpa, and another brother were pulling for the Vols…
