The Miami Dolphins are signing another veteran wide receiver to their stacked roster, which includes Tyreek Hill, Jaylen Waddle, and Odell Beckham Jr. The Dolphins continue to make life easier for quarterback Tua Tagovailoa after they gave him a $212 million deal this month.
Their newest addition had a dramatic offseason with the San Francisco 49ers. The 49ers have found a way to irritate many former and current players this offseason. Arik Armstead, Brandon Aiyuk, Kyle Juszczyk, and Willie Snead IV voiced frustrations with leadership for various reasons.
The Miami Dolphins sign Willie Snead IV
Per a statement by the Dolphins, the team announced they released defensive tackle Mario Kendricks and signed Snead:
Snead is a nine-year veteran, having spent time with San Francisco (2022-23), Carolina (2021), Las Vegas (2021), Baltimore (2018-20) and New Orleans (2014-17). He also had a stint on Carolina’s practice squad in 2014 after spending training camp with Cleveland.
He has played in 103 career games with 48 starts, recording 281 receptions for 3,445 (12.3 avg.) and 16 touchdowns. Snead IV entered the NFL as an undrafted college free agent with Cleveland on May 12, 2014. He played collegiately at Ball State.
Sneed had beef with the San Francisco 49ers
As previously discussed on GH, Snead called out the 49ers this offseason for having an entitlement problem:
“While Armstead, a veteran team favorite on the defense, had a problem getting paid by the front office, Snead had the opposite problem in San Francisco. On his X account, Snead wrote the 49ers have an “entitlement” issue in their locker room. He hinted they don’t let players compete for playing time:
All I want is to go back to a team that isn’t afraid to let guys compete for a roster spot. These last 3 years been nothing short of entitlement… Competition breedz Champions, Snead wrote.”
Via X, Snead hinted he wanted to play in the AFC North. 49ers fans attacked Snead on X throughout the offseason, and Snead deleted his account.
Snead will now play in the AFC East and for a team that may or may not have an “entitlement” problem under head coach Mike McDaniel. It won’t be easy for Snead to earn targets on the receiver corps the Dolphins have this season.
