Former San Francisco 49ers quarterback Colin Kaepernick has been in many talks about rejoining the NFL these past few months, which was sparked after he wrote a letter to the New York Jets asking to join their practice squad. He was ultimately turned away, but that did not stop fans from calling for the former quarterback to join their squad. A new fanbase has been participating in this after losing their starting and backup quarterbacks.
Dear @Giants,
Give Colin Kaepernick a call. You have nothing to lose and games to win. pic.twitter.com/gDEpLcX8c6

New York Giants Quarterback Struggles
The New York Giants are the team that fans are calling to sign Kaepernick now and with good reason. New York has lost their starter Daniel Jones for the season after he suffered a torn ACL, and his backup Tyrod Taylor has been placed on injured reserve and is now week-to-week. Since then, it has been announced that Tommy DeVito will be the starter going forward, killing any hopes of the Giants getting to a winning record this season.
In the two games that he has played in, DeVito has 174 passing yards and a touchdown along with two interceptions. He certainly is not ready to be a starter in the league, and Giants fans are not happy with him. If they were to bring in Kaepernick, it could bring new life to the team. He would have to prove that he can run the practice squad without a problem, but he can serve as a good backup plan if something happens to DeVito, or the team gets tired of putting him in the game.
Colin Kaepernick Career
In his six seasons in the league, Kaepernick went for 12,271 passing yards and 72 touchdowns and even brought the 49ers to the Super Bowl. He has been out of the league for a while now and is now 36 years old, so it would be tough for him to get back to how he used to be.
Overall, these are just rumors and a desperate fanbase trying to do everything they can to recruit a veteran quarterback. With the controversy that Kaepernick has faced, it is a long shot for him to be reinstated, and it would likely cause a lot of criticism to the league.
