Joe Burrow Has Added Some Weight On His Return From Injury For 2024 Season

Joe Burrow is making great progress coming back from a season ending injury he suffered in 2023. Burrow has seemingly made a decision to gain much more weight in hopes that a bigger version of himself may help with injuries.

We saw Miami Dolphins quarterback Tua Tagovailoa beef up a little after suffering many injuries two season ago, and he managed to play in every single game in the 2023 season. Burrow is hoping for the same after the quarterback reportedly gained some nice weight this off season in his return from injury.

The Bengals beat the Rams, 19-16, improving to 1-2. NFL

Burrow revealed that he has been intentional about trying to add some real weight this off season as he has been coming back from injury. He specifically wants to add some mass in hopes that it will help him be more available throughout the season.

When Burrow is the starting quarterback towards the end of the season and playoffs, this Bengals team has always gone far. Their Super Bowl hopes are completely reliant on Burrow being healthy down the stretch.

“I’m eating more, I’m more dialed as far as nutrition and food schedule and eating when I need to so that’s been a big area of emphasis for me and I’ve seen the results,” Burrow said, via Geoff Hobson of Bengals.com.

Cincinnati Bengals Are Much ‘Bigger’ This Year

He continued on a long tangent about how not only he is much bigger, but the team is bigger all around. The Bengals have brought in some huge guys up front to protect Burrow as he has been one of the most sacked and pressured quarterbacks since he has entered the league.

“We’re bigger. Definitely bigger. We’ll see where I’m at at the end of the offseason. I feel good about where my body is right now. I’m going to continue to get stronger and bigger throughout the offseason and just play it by ear, depending on how I feel,” the former No. 1 pick continued.

“Like I said, I’m in a good spot right now. I’m really strong, bigger than I was. We’re going to continue to eat right, lift and go through my routine and see where I’m at.”

Burrow has had some trouble in his young career of staying on the field. He has suffered a few brutal season ending injuries since taking over the Bengals team. In two of his last four seasons in the league, Burrow has been limited to just 10 games due to injury. He has been arguably the best quarterback in the league when he is on the field.

He cannot afford to take on more intense injury going forward or we may wind up with an Andrew Luck situation. Last season, Burrow seemed to rush back from his injury only making things worse. Thankfully, he has been progressing incredibly well on his comeback and should be 100% when the start of the season comes.
