The New England Patriots have grabbed several headlines these last few days. This morning, it was revealed that Jerod Mayo would be the next head coach of the New England Patriots. It is the first time that the Patriots will have a new head coach in 24 years. Considering how fast they announced this new hire, New England seems to be modeling one other great organization in the NFL.
New Pittsburgh Steelers
You can argue the Patriots have already matched the Steelers when it comes to franchise success. That is because each of these teams has six Super Bowl titles in franchise history. Both held a high standard for multiple decades in franchise history as well.
When it comes to maintaining a high standard, there is perhaps no team with more consistency than the Steelers. This starts with the head coach position. Pittsburgh always seems to get this right.
The big thing to take away there is the Steelers have had just three head coaches in 55 years. Chuck Knoll coached the team for 23 years from 1969-1991 and won four Super Bowl titles. Then, Bill Cowher took over for the next 15 years and won a Super Bowl of his own. Now, Mike Tomlin has been the man in charge for the last 17 years and captured a Super Bowl title in his tenure as well.

New England Patriots Head Coaches
The main headline here has to be Bill Belichick. He was the Patriots head coach for 24 years and won six Super Bowl titles with the team. However, he is not the only great coach that the Patriots have had.
Before Belichick, a man by the name of Pete Carroll coached the team for three seasons from 1997-99. While he may not have led the Patriots to a Super Bowl, they did go 27-21 during his tenure. Of course, Carroll went on to win a Super Bowl with the Seattle Seahawks 14 years after he left New England.
Before Carroll, Bill Parcells led the Patriots for five seasons from 1992-96. He already had Super Bowl success, capturing two titles with the New York Giants. Parcells even led New England to their second Super Bowl appearance in franchise history during the 1996-97 season.

New England Patriots Moving Forward
Now, the Patriots look to start the next chapter of their franchise. They will do so with an in-house head coach and someone they officially hired as head coach just 24 hours after Bill Belichick and Robert Kraft mutually parted ways. Mayo will be the youngest active head coach in the NFL. New England hopes he can be the next Mike Tomlin or Bill Belichick.
