Former Green Bay Packers quarterback Brett Favre has not been making great headlines over the past few years. His alleged involvement in the Mississippi Welfare Scandal has been a cloud of his head for a while now and has done serious damage to his already spotted reputation.
Earlier today, it was reported that one of Favre’s business partners, Jake Van Landingham, pled guilty to wire fraud in connection to the scandal. Van Landingham was the founder of Prevacus, a drug company in which Favre was an investor. The company received more than $2 million in federal welfare money.
Favre himself has not been convicted of any crimes (yet), and former Mississippi governor Phil Bryant is currently suing the news outlet that first reported the scandal for defamation.
Former Green Bay Packers Quarterback Brett Favre Does Not Claim to Be a Member of Any Political Party
Over the years, Favre has made no secret regarding his political leanings. Obviously, he was close to former Governor Bryant, who is a Republican.
Favre has also been a frequent golfing partner of former United States President Donald Trump.
That all being said, Favre claims he does not identify as either Republican or Democrat.
However, during an appearance on Jason Whitlock’s Fearless podcast in 2023, Favre did state that he felt the United States was in a better place when Trump was in office than it is with current President Joe Biden:
“I think our country was in better shape with him. I think Donald was a non-political president, and I liked that about him. Was he perfect? Absolutely not. Am I perfect? Absolutely not. I’m flawed just like the rest of ’em. We’re all flawed. But I really felt like he had our country in a better place and really cared about our people in our country.
“Black, white, Hispanic, Asian — you name it. I think if you were an American citizen, he cared about you, first and foremost. I don’t know if our current president has the same mentality.”
President Biden, of course, has caused quite a stir in the country over the last few days. First, it was reported that he had COVID. Then, he announced that he would not be seeking re-election.
Favre seems to think there were some shady dealings behind the scenes that led the President to that decision.
Former Green Bay Packers Quarterback Brett Favre Thinks President Joe Biden Was Blackmailed Into Dropping Out
On Tuesday, Favre reposted a theory on X (formerly Twitter) in which Collin Rugg of Trending Politics claims that the Democratic Party, led by Nancy Pelosi, threatened Biden into stepping down as their party’s nominee for President.
The post read:
“NEW: Biden was blackmailed into dropping out of the race after top democrats threatened to remove him from office with the 25th Amendment according to the New York Post.
“It’s becoming clear that the coup was a well-orchestrated plan by Democrats. Biden’s June debate appeared to be a ‘setup’ so Democrats could forcibly remove Biden in time to get a new candidate. According to Politico, Nancy Pelosi threatened Biden if he refused to drop out of the race.
“‘Nancy made clear that they could do this the easy way or the hard way. She gave them three weeks of the easy way. It was about to be the hard way,’ a source told Politico. The hard way appears to have been the 25th Amendment.
“Biden’s own staff didn’t even know he was dropping out until they read his letter on X, which was digitally signed.
“But did this plan go back even further?
“In 2020, Pelosi unveiled legislation that would allow Congress to intervene under the 25th Amendment to remove the president.
“She assured the public at the time that the legislation was not for Trump.”
Favre obviously is going to be voting for Trump in the upcoming election, as he made his positive feelings regarding the former President quite clear on numerous occasions.
His X account is also filled with re-posts of others praising Trump’s running mate, JD Vance.
