The Seattle Seahawks announced earlier today that Pete Carroll would be out as the head coach in 2024. While Seattle plans to keep him as an advisor to the organization, the team now needs to move forward and find his replacement. With little time wasted, insiders already are claiming that there is a heavy favorite to take the job.
Dan Quinn Is a Strong Candidate
Right now, Dan Quinn is the defensive coordinator of the Dallas Cowboys. However, given the above announcement, this may change after the 2023-24 NFL season. According to Ian Rapoport of the NFL Network, Quinn is expected to be a strong candidate to replace Carroll as the Seahawks head coach.
Dan Quinn’s Background
Quinn has been the Cowboys’ defensive coordinator for the past three seasons. However, he does have history with the Seattle Seahawks. He was their assistant head coach and defensive backs coach from 2009-10 and their defensive coordinator from 2013-14. Notably, Quinn was on the Seahawks’ coaching staff for Super Bowl XLVIII in the latter stint.
However, his most famous coaching stint is arguably with the Atlanta Falcons. He coached that team for six seasons and even led the Falcons to a Super Bowl appearance. That appearance is notable because they blew a 28-3 lead to the New England Patriots in Super Bowl LI.
Seattle Seahawks Moving Forward
Carroll has been a stable leader of the Seahawks’ organization for more than a decade. Now, Seattle looks to start their next chapter. Quinn would be more than capable of taking the mantle from Carroll given his past coaching experience.
