BYU Defensive Coordinator Ilaisa Tuiaki Steps Down after the defense struggled this past season. He announced on his Instagram earlier today after the Cougars took down the Cardinal last night. After seven years and for the first time since Kalani Sitake started at BYU he is looking for a defensive coordinator. Ilaisa Tuiaki Started in 2016 as DC when the coaching staff changed after Mendenhall left. This season he serves as DC and the defensive line coach. BYU beats Stanford to close out the 2022 and the Independence Era. The Cougars finish the regular season 7-5 and are headed to a Bowl game to be named later. With an almost complete game on the field for the Cougars and many players having season or career highs, it ended on a high note. Freeland a three-year starter for the Cougars and consistent on the line is going to take his game to the Senior Bowl. Blake Freeland could leave this year but he could also return and play one more year. Puka Nacua transferred to BYU last season and has been a great asset to the Cougar’s Offense and one of Jaren Hall’s favorite targets.
