Is Andy Reid the next Lavell Edwards
Andy Reid Chiefs Head Coach won his second super bowl Sunday and many are wondering where he ranks amongst head coaches. Some are calling him the best candidate to be Lavell Edwards’s protégé. He is up there for that and I think that he is looking at Edward’s Coaching Tree he is the best candidate. Reid loves the pass just as much as Edwards did and being on a team in college who did everything but run the football is how he works today. He has got an all-star lineup on that field and a future hall-of-fame quarterback to lead on the field.

Andy Reid
After Sunday’s win, Reid now has 247 wins, 22 playoff wins, 10 conference championships, 4 super bowl appearances, and 2 super bowl victories. Lavell Edwards is the reason that Reid is coaching today. Reid like Edwards is a people person first and a coach on the football second. Edwards would call Reid regularly to talk about life.
Andy Reid played for BYU from 1978-1980 and learned the passing game from Edwards and you see a lot of how his offense runs looks similar to Edwards. Reid has a spot waiting for him in Canton when he is ready to hang his coaching hat up and one at BYU. Coach brings out the best in his players and makes men out of them just like Edwards did for so many.

Reid’s coaching career
Andy Reid started coaching in 1982 as a graduate assistant for BYU. 1993-1995 he coached the offensive line and was offensive coordinator for San Francisco State a Division 2 school. 1986 he spent at NAU coaching up the offensive line. 1987-1988 he coached the offensive lineman at UTEP. To finish out coaching at the College level he did 3 seasons for Missouri from 1989-1991 where he coached the offensive line.
Reid has been in the NFL ever since where he started as an assistant coach with the Packers from 1992-1998. He then moved to the Eagles as a first-time head coach from 1999-2012. Reid is now with the Chiefs where he has been coaching since 2013 as head coach.

Lavell Edwards was a college football head coach for 29 years. He had 257 wins (6th most), 27 straight none losing seasons, 17 straight bowl games, a 1984 national championship and undefeated season, 2-time coach of the year, and 2004 inductee of the college football hall of fame. Many of his players say that they never had football conversations with the coach.
