In the modern era of college football, recruiting is a fluid business. And Auburn have felt the ebb and flow of talent acquisition the last 24 hours. On Wednesday the Tigers suffered a blow, as 4-star receiver Karmello English decommitted from the program. But WR Coach Ike Hilliard has reeled in another 4-star pass catcher to take his place. Adam Hopkins, of Thomasville, Georgia, becomes Auburn’s eighth recruit of the 2023 cycle. More impressively, seven of the eight all have 4-star ratings courtesy of the 24/7 composite. https://twitter.com/AUFAMILY/status/1570403329716678657 Coach Hilliard has been nothing short of impressive since coming to The…

Well this is a novelty. It’s not often you get to head into week one of the college football season with some tape to watch. Normally, you’re scraping around for how the previous season ended, particularly against an FCS opponent. But this year, things are different. Head coach Bryan Harsin confirmed what many of Tiger Nation feared on Monday: Nick Brahms’ football career is over. A sixth year veteran, Brahms has been a mainstay at the pivot of Auburn’s offensive line. Sadly persistent injuries have plagued the center the last two seasons. And after two knee operations this offseason, Brahms confirmed his retirement in an emotional tweet: https://twitter.com/Nick_Brahms/status/1564423084618162179 Nick Brahms is as much a part of AU as Aubie the Tiger. Recruited by former o-line coach Herb Hand back in 2017, Brahms was a four-star prospect out of Navarre, Florida. He had a whopping THIRTY-FIVE scholarship…

The decision has been made; TJ Finley has been named starting quarterback. In his press conference yesterday, head coach Bryan Harsin expanded on his decision to give Finley the keys to the offense: “I do want to start with the quarterback, T.J. Finley. We announced him yesterday. I’m just proud of him – and all those guys through the competition – and looking forward to seeing him prepare himself this week and get out there and play.” Harsin looked confident in his decision, but did admit that it would be subject to evaluation on a game by game basis: “We’re…

Well that was a wild 24 hours! An incredible TWENTY-FIVE names were trimmed from the roster as the Jaguars downsized to the required 53. And with the deadline now passed, we have a clear idea of the image in which Doug Pederson wants to shape this roster. Here we look at some of the major moves made by GM Trent Baalke, in what is one of the most ruthless days in the NFL calendar: Jaguars Trade Laviska Shenault To The Panthers Carolina continues to be a bolthole for high Jaguars draft picks. Twelve months after CJ Henderson was sent to…

Who needs a kicker anyway? The Jaguars made a further roster move on Tuesday, cutting kicker Ryan Santoso.  The news was first broke by Team reporter Ashlyn Williams. A four-year veteran, Santoso had seemingly secured the kicking job after seeing off both Andrew Mevis and Elliott Fry so far this preseason. Freeing up a roster spot, Jacksonville opted to bring back quarterback Jake Luton, who was a victim of the first round of cuts last week. Swapping a kicker for a quarterback isn’t in itself a surprise. But what is surprising, is that The Jaguars now have zero kickers on…

After entering the transfer portal last week, Ben Patton has found a new home. The former Auburn kicker has transferred to Michigan State, joining up with the Spartans last week. Joining the team as a walk-on in 2019, Patton has been the primary backup to Anders Carlson the past two years. He saw game time as a holder in 2021 before assuming kicking duties when Carlson tore his ACL in November. Patton was…

The Jaguars are trimming the fat. One week after the team was compelled to waive five names for the first round of cuts, more talent has departed Jacksonville. The seven players waived are as follows: Jeremiah Leadbetter, EDGE Wyatt Ray, LB Marvin Hall, WR Beau Benzschawel, IOL Lujuan Winningham, WR Grayson Gunter, TE Shabari Davis, CB That they cut two more than necessary tells you that Doug Pederson & Trent Baalke know none of these guys would…

The Jaguars suffered their third loss of the preseason Saturday night, being beaten 16-15 by the Pittsburgh Steelers.
