The Cleveland Browns started training camp on Thursday at The Greenbrier in West Virginia for the first week of camp. They will continue to practice on Friday and Saturday and have Sunday off. They will resume on Monday, go through Tuesday, and have Wednesday off.

The Cleveland Browns had an elite pass defense in 2023
The Browns hope their pass defense can have another dominant campaign after they finished top-10 in receptions, passing yards, interceptions, and first downs. They ranked 1st in receptions, passing yards, passing first downs, and tied for 3rd in interceptions last season.
Unfortunately, the Browns will be without a key contributor for the time being.
The Cleveland Browns former 1st-round pick suffered an injury
Greg Newsome II hurt his hamstring during a workout away from their practice facility before training camp. The Browns placed him on the active/non-football-injury list. He will undergo surgery on Friday and will be out indefinitely.
Kevin Stefanski gave an injury update on Greg Newsome II
Stefanski gave a brief but optimistic injury update on Newsome. He hopes he will be ready for Week 1.
“Hopefully have (Newsome) back for Week 1 but I’ll have more of an update as we get closer,” Browns head coach Kevin Stefanski said.”
Who filled in for the injured slot cornerback?
Cameron Mitchell will take over slot duties while Greg Newsome II recovers from his hamstring injury. Mitchell, a 5th-round pick from 2023, started three games in his rookie season when Newsome missed time with an injury. Denzel Ward has confidence in him.
“He didn’t play (much) as a rookie,” Ward said. “I think this is a great opportunity for him to step up with Greg being out and getting more reps, but he got playing time last year. Him and Greg rotated and he showed up. So I think he’s going to do well for us. I’m real confident in putting him in there at the nickel spot or the corner spot and not losing a step with Greg being out.”
