Espn made a list last week ranking the top 100 overall college football players for the 2022 season. Ohio State had five players that made the list. They had four offensive players and one defensive player make it. The Ohio State defense struggled in 2021. Last year they ranked 38th in scoring defense (22.77) and 59th in total defense (372.9). This off-season Ohio State wiped out almost the entire defensive coaching staff. Jim Knowles is now the defensive coordinator and will look to make a real change on that side of the ball. Four Star TE Commits to Ohio State Jelani Thurman is ranked as the 68th best overall player and 3rd best tight end in the country according to 247 sports. Thurman is a physical specimen standing at 6’5 230 lbs. The four-star recruits give Ohio State an even more loaded 2023 recruiting class which was already ranked 1st in the country. Brian Hartline played wide receiver for Ohio State from 2006-2008 before being drafted in the 4th round of the 2009 NFL draft. Hartline had a somewhat successful NFL career posting two 1,000+ receiving yard seasons in his 7-year career.
