The Arizona Cardinals may have missed the playoffs for the 2023 season, but things could change for them in the 2024 campaign.
With Kyler Murray finally healthy once again and an intriguing offseason awaiting them, the Cardinals are projected to become a playoff contender next season. At least one AFC Scout believes that.
According to the anonymous scout who talked to Jeremy Fowler of ESPN, the Cardinals are in a good position to bolster their roster through the draft. Arizona has six picks through the first three rounds of the upcoming NFL Draft, including two in the first round at no. 4 and 27.
Cardinals GM Monti Ossenfort certainly has plenty of opportunities to address some of the team’s biggest needs, including on the receiver, cornerback, tackle and linebacker positions. Considering how deep the draft class is, it’s truly a great chance for Arizona to elevate the roster.
Here’s what Fowler wrote in his report where he predicted that the Cardinals will make the playoffs in 2024:
Arizona is trending up despite its 4-13 clip in 2023. As one NFL offensive coach said, “That’s the best four-win team I’ve seen in a while. They make you earn everything.”
“[Head coach Jonathan Gannon] seems legit, and they can kill it in the draft,” an AFC scout said. “If they add some vet pieces in free agency, they can surprise some people. Kyler Murray will be better with a full year coming off the ACL [tear].”
It will surely be interesting to see how the Arizona Cardinals approach the offseason. After finishing at the bottom of the NFC West, it’s clear that they are still a bit far from postseason contention. Nonetheless, if they play their cards right both in the draft and free agency, their fate could change.
Making the Playoffs Won’t Be Easy for Arizona Cardinals
Arizona Cardinals fans have every reason to dream and hope that the team will make the playoffs. They do seem to have the tools to compete, and with Kyler Murray expected to be 100 percent healthy when the new season starts, they are projected to become more lethal.
The problem for the Cardinals is that the NFC West is a difficult division to be. Not only do they have perennial postseason contenders in the San Francisco 49ers, but the Los Angeles Rams are also there to make things more difficult.
There are some uncertainty when it comes to the Seattle Seahawks since they just parted ways with Pete Carroll, but they do have a well-established group that knows how to compete.
With that being said, the Cardinals’ front office will have to really make some big improvements if they want to see the Arizona franchise get back to postseason contention any time soon.
