Las Vegas Raiders Have More Troubling News At Wide Receiver

On Wednesday’s transaction wire from the NFL, the Las Vegas Raiders have more troubling news for their receiver corps. The Raiders are losing two wide receivers in two days to start training camp—one permanently, the other temporarily.

The Las Vegas Raiders had a slow start on Day 1

Indianapolis Colts quarterback Gardner Minshew II (10) throws, Saturday, Jan. 6, 2024, before a game against the Houston Texans at Lucas Oil Stadium in Indianapolis.

The Raiders started Day 1 of training camp practice on Wednesday. Both quarterbacks Aidan O’Connell and Gardner Minshew reportedly had a solid day but didn’t complete many complex passes. Of course, they didn’t have as many camp bodies to throw to as the front office would like.

The Raiders signed two former Dallas Cowboys WRs

Michael Gallup retired from the NFL after being on the Raiders roster for a few months. Gallup wasn’t the only former Cowboys receiver they signed this offseason. As previously discussed on GH, the Raiders signed Jalen Guyton in May:

According to a statement by the Raiders, on Monday, the team signed unrestricted free agent Jalen Guyton:

Guyton joins the Silver and Black after spending the last five seasons with the Los Angeles Chargers (2019-23). Last season, Guyton played in eight games and posted 10 receptions for 89 yards and one touchdown…

A native of Allen, Texas, Guyton played two seasons at North Texas (2017-18) after spending time at Trinity Valley Community College (2016) and Notre Dame (2015). He played in 26 games for North Texas and posted 103 receptions for 1,580 yards and 15 touchdowns.

Jalen Guyton was placed on the PUP list on Wednesday

Guyton will also miss the start of training camp. Per the league’s transaction wire, Guyton was placed on the physically unable to perform list. Offensive tackle Kolton Miller was placed on the list as well.

Guyton had a chance to make the 53-man roster before the injury. The injury could complicate his abilities to compete for a roster spot during training camp.
