NFL Draft analyst Mel Kiper Jr. is really high on Ohio State Buckeyes star Marvin Harrison Jr., which is why he sees the Arizona Cardinals snagging him with the fourth pick in the upcoming draft.
In his latest draft predictions for ESPN, Kiper highlighted that the Cardinals could really use some help on both sides of the ball. That is why they will have to take the best available talent when their turn comes in the draft, and in this case, it’s likely Harrison.
The 2024 class is filled with talented quarterbacks, but Harrison projects to be the best non-QB prospect, and for good reason. As Kiper himself wrote, the 21-year-old wideout even has what it takes to be the Offensive Rookie of the Year in 2024.
“The plucky Cardinals won four games and showed some improvement throughout the season, but they still finished 32nd in rushing yards allowed per game (143.2), 31st in points allowed per game (26.8) on defense and 29th in pass yards per attempt (6.2) on offense. In short, they have big needs on both sides of the ball,” Kiper explained.
“Harrison is one of the best receiver prospects of the past decade, a 6-foot-4 speedster who can run every route and break tackles after the catch. In Arizona, where Marquise Brown is a free agent, he could step into the No. 1 role as a rookie. He has all the tools to win Offensive Rookie of the Year in 2024. The Cardinals also own the Texans’ first-rounder in this draft, thanks to last year’s trade during Round 1, and they could look to the defense or offensive line there.”
The Arizona Cardinals already have a QB1 in place in Kyler Murray, so they don’t really have much need on that end. With that said, taking Marvin Harrison Jr. certainly makes a ton of sense. As Kiper mentioned, he’s a promising quarterback who can further elevate his game along with an elite QB.
Of course the decision is on the Cardinals, but it’s hard to see Harrison falling below the Top 4.
Why Arizona Cardinals Should Draft Marvin Harrison Jr.
Marvin Harrison Jr. is a Top 5 prospect for a reason. During the 2023 season with the Ohio State Buckeyes, he accumulated 67 receptions for 1211 yards and 14 touchdowns. He also rush two times for 26 yards and one TD.
At 6-foot-4 and 205 lbs., Harrison has the physique to be a dominant wide receiver in the NFL. He’s also an excellent route-runner, and many see him as a pro-ready prospect.
For an Arizona Cardinals team looking for an instant contributor, Harrison is as good as it gets. Overall in his three-year Buckeyes career, he had 155 receptions for 2613 yards and 31 touchdowns.
It remains to be seen what the Cardinals will do, but there’s definitely no better prospect that fits their needs than Harrison.
