The Philadelphia Eagles are eager to get back to the Super Bowl. They made it there on the back of a great offense and a devastating defense. The Eagles are hoping to replicate that in 2023 but will now have to do it without a core special teams player. Linebacker Shaun Bradley tore his Achilles and is done for 2023.
Philadelphia Eagles LB Shaun Bradley Tears Achilles
The injury occurred during the third quarter of their game against the Ravens. While in punt coverage, his Achilles gave way and tore. It is a devastating blow for the Eagles’ special teams unit. He played 69% of the special teams snaps in 2022 and even started a couple of games here and there. While special teams may not seem like a big deal, teams who have experienced bad special teams know exactly the impact it can have on a game. Bradley will definitely be missed.
Next Man Up
On special teams especially it is next man up. The Eagles are going to have to locate who they will replace Bradley with on the unit. Ultimately, the Eagles are hoping that their offense and defense are so dominating that they do not have to worry about special teams errors. Rookie Jalen Carter looked like a wrecking ball as did the rest of the offensive line. Jalen Hurts is looking to take another step forward and possibly be in the MVP conversation. The NFC is wide open so the Eagles should have no issue getting back to the playoffs.
The Philadelphia Eagles will have to move on without Shaun Bradley. This is the worst time of year for injuries as everyone feels for a player that cannot see the field at all in a season. Hopefully, Bradley will recover and be back on the field soon.
