Oklahoma finally joined the SEC on Monday after three years of waiting to enter the conference, and three years ago, when the announcement was made that Oklahoma would leave the Big 12, the Sooners had one of the best head coaches in college football in Lincoln Riley. Still, at the end of 2022, he decided to leave the program and head to USC, and now we might’ve found another reason why he didn’t want to be at Oklahoma anymore.
Was Lincoln Riley Scared Of The SEC
Oklahoma’s athletic director, Joe Castiglione, appeared on SEC Nation on Monday night and stated that every coach he talked to was excited about joining the SEC. The ones who weren’t aren’t at the school anymore. This has to be some shot at Lincoln Riley, knowing that the SEC is the toughest conference in college football, and Riley hasn’t done great against the conference in the past.

Riley is one of the best coaches in college football, so there are probably some grudges still held by Oklahoma, and it was a perfect time to bring up without using his name that some coaches weren’t excited to join the conference. All of it was to take a shot at Riley.
Of course, Sooner fans took to social media to express their reactions to the subject, and here are some of their takes.
