The Alabama Crimson Tide’s loss of long-time head coach Nick Saban will certainly be felt around Alabama and the SEC as a whole. Good news is, the hiring of Kalen DeBoer should offer an uptick even for the already powerful Crimson Tide offensive attack. Alabama ranked 58th in the nation in total offense last year, while DeBoer’s Washington Huskies were ranked 12th. This could be a good change, as Vandy has struggled heavily in recent seasons to find stability at the quarterback position. The Mississippi State Bulldogs rebuild is under new head coach Jeff Lebby, and it starts at quarterback. Former starter Will Rogers entered the transfer portal, ultimately ending up at the University of Washington. Blake Shapen joins from Baylor University and seems to have the starting position locked down for the 2024 season. Shapen has completed over 62 percent of his passes during his collegiate career. The Tampa Bay Buccaneers’ Antoine Winfield Jr. was one of the best (if not the best) safeties in the league in 2023. The Buccaneers have benefitted from his stellar play since drafting him 45th overall in the 2020 NFL draft.
