The Oklahoma Sooners have lost quite a lot of talent to the transfer portal this offseason. With a move to the SEC looming in 2024, the Sooners will have some work to do to fill out the roster. It is not going to get easier as veteran wide receiver LV Bunkley-Shelton announced he is entering the transfer portal.

Oklahoma Sooners Lose WR LV Bunkley-Shelton
Bunkley-Shelton never really caught on in the Oklahoma offense. He only had five total catches in his two years with the team so it doesn’t come as a surprise that he is entering the portal. The talented wide receiver showed promise when he was with the Arizona Sun Devils before transferring to the Sooners. He will still have two years of eligibility remaining.
2024 Outlook
The Sooners will have to play a tough SEC schedule in 2024. While the early part of the season seems manageable, four out of the last five games are Ole Miss, Missouri, Alabama, and LSU. The Rebels and Tigers have been nailing the transfer portal. The Crimson Tide and the Tigers are always in the mix for the conference title. If the Sooners cannot rebuild their roster, they might struggle in their first year in the SEC.
The Oklahoma Sooners should be fine in the long run. This is one of the premier programs in the nation and should be able to compete in 2024.
