No! The Chicago Bears will not sign Odell Beckham Jr. nor should they! With the recent injuries to Bears newcomers n’Keal Harry, and Byron Pringle, I can already hear Bears fans in that Chicago accent ” Hey poles, go get that Beckham Jr. guy” No! So let’s nip it in the bud right now. This isn’t Madden 23. This is real life.
Reason one you don’t want him.
While he’s not as bad as some receivers in the past, Beckham would be a cancer here. The first time Beckham felt like Bears offensive coordinator Luke Getsy wasn’t getting him the ball enough he would throw a tantrum. Same thing goes for the first time he wasn’t happy with a Justin Fields pass. His negativity and vibes would spread through the locker room like wildfire. From what we have heard and seen from head coach Matt Eberflus, how do you think he would handle that? It would get ugly.
Reason two, he’s injury prone
Even if Beckham was the first one in practice, and the last one out. Helping elderly ladies across the street, and rescuing little girls kitten’s out of trees being a model citizen, he would still probably be out by week 6 from an injury. Beckham is 29 which is still young enough to have some good season’s left. Just not when you have torn your ACL twice, sprained your ankle and fractured it. This all happened on the same leg by the way.
Three, they don’t need him.
Let’s say some how the Chicago Bears shock the world and win the Superbowl this year. More realistically let’s say they shock the world and make it as a wild card team in the playoffs. It wouldn’t be because they signed a gimpy Odell Beckham Jr. to save the day. Besides, they have the equivalent of Beckham in his prime. Darnell Mooney, he is just as good as Beckham was. One more news flash Bears fans. I know everyone is excited about Justin Fields. I am too, but this is going to be a running team this season. The running backs are the Bears strength. On top of that Pringle and Harry will return, they aren’t out for the season. Not only should the Bears not sign Beckham, I’m not sure they should sign any receivers, and give the younger guys on the roster a shot.
